Magically appearing guards?

Disclaimer -I got some opinions in here, along with a short story full of intrigue--I put my opinions in italics to make it easy to not comment on them.

So, I thought I'd try to take over a full settlement to get more familiar with combat to see if there are any redeeming qualities. (spoiler, there aren't)

I snuck around, which is comically bad--guys running by me as I'm crouched right in front of them- side note--I feel like sneaking systems in video games was figured out in the early 2000's? why is frontier trying to reinvent the wheel?

I took out a worker in a room, with a taser, he was the only worker in that room--when I left the room I alerted a guard--he sounded the alarm-- I was on a balcony with the empty room (with the solo dead guy) behind me, guards started to infiltrate my building-- I was engaging with them when suddenly the door opened behind me -- it was guards coming out of the previously empty room seemingly endlessly-maybe three or four--(The multiple dropships are super annoying to begin with-- but at least you know where the guards are coming from), It felt like it happened to me a few other times but I just chalked it up to the guards knowing where I was-- Is this intentional? How are we supposed to create any kind of strategic gameplay when you can't clear a room and guards are just coming out of nowhere?

Anyway, this, combined with the bad performance, the uninspired CZ's and combat has pretty much put the nail in the coffin for me... Which is frustrating as I have thousands of hours in this game, I've never preordered a game ever and I preordered this--I was rooting for it.

Yeah, when the alarms are on then guard NPCs will just keep spawning. It's pretty silly.

I always turn off the alarm console first thing.

Are you sure they "Magically" appear? I am pretty sure they get dropped off by Ships. And eventually if you kill enough, OMNIPOL will start showing up, and as far as I know, they're the only G5 NPCs outside of Conflict Zones. They're the closest thing to a Challenge in the FPS combat, mostly because they move and fight as a group. If they had more consistent accuracy, they'd probably be unbeatable as the second you poke your head out, a hail of Aphelion fire strips your shields in like a third of a second.

I mean, you're attacking their base, what do you expect, them to just roll over and take it?

I can't prove it was magic, it could have been some form of new technology, or they were hiding in the microwave or toilet-- but they came from a previously empty room with only one exit or entrance that I was standing in front of.

Maybe you're just bad at room clearing? It could also be a bug. I've done a lot of Settlement Massacres (The one where you have to find your own settlement to wipe out, not the targeted settlement) so I do a lot of "Alarm Farms" and I haven't seen an NPC appear somewhere they shouldn't have, but I'm also not arrogant enough to say I can answer with certainty.

My skepticism is mostly from the fact that I haven't seen any indicator in the game at all, that anything can just "Spawn" out of thin air, period. Like I legitimately think the game physically can't, as everything spawns when the instance is loaded.

Skyrims stealth is pretty comical and that was 2011. I feel like stealth in Odyssey is pretty similar, except that hostiles are better at spotting you from a distance.
Hostiles are way too good at spotting you from a distance on a rooftop in total darkness just peeking out from behind cover.
I can barely see them and that's only if they have their shields/flashlights on. When they are dark it's not possible to see them. But they spot you immediately.

Should be toned down.

Really? They pull a Cyberpunk 2077? I was wondering why I'd been slaughtering an infinite army while waiting for my shuttle. :D At least sometimes they have a dropshop come in.

For context, one of the fixes they did recently was to disable these on inactive settlements.

Basically, if you powered on the abandoned settlement and triggered an alarm, they'd spawn.... which is a bit dumb, and therefore a good move. But for an occupied settlement, makes sense there's secure QRF reserves underground.
A QRF that doesn't fix their own settlement? Some reaction ability. ;p

I've had guards just spontaneously appear surrounding me outside (like 1-2 feet away) a couple seconds after the base power went down in a base with alarms disabled, has happened the same way a couple times while farming the same tourism base.

If the power goes down the NPCs will turn on their shields and head to the power center, the alarm doesn't need to be triggered. You can watch this happen if you steal the regulator and then go hide outside the base and watch the NPCs all converge and look for you.

I like the fact that the bases act in a "normal" way in which they're not quite a push over and will actively attempt to defend. This causes you to have to really think about your approach and also gets the heart racing once you start to enact your plan where it could go wrong any moment!

These weren't running towards the power center, these were spawned out of thin air almost on top of me. I'd already murdered everyone nearby and was headed back to the power center to pick up the regulator. Happened again in the same location and situation during cat media farming. I figured they were supposed to be the group that runs towards the power center but is supposed to spawn elsewhere, not on top of you. Cyberpunk vibes.

It also messes with them if you leave the alarms on and start opening multiple things with a countdown at the same time, like the power center and sample containment units. Done right, the alarms can be a distraction in and of themselves.

yeah i saw this happen last week. i was waiting above the settlement in a ship waiting to blow the inbound NPCs up once the alarms went off. a team member was in the building which set off the alarm taking the power regulator.

nothing came, nothing entered the building..
he had NPCs in the building which spawned in or in the next room to him.

spawned from nowhere

They do not appear out of nowhere, I invite you to review the settlements well, I do not know how it would be in the lore in a realistic way but I give you this tip.
There are buildings on the outside that are like bunkers and inside the rooms of the settlements there are metal doors that cannot be opened, in these doors when the alarms are activated they open and the NPCs go out as well as the bunkers outside and as last instance in the form of support with ships, they do not come out magically, I'm sorry to break the illusion

I spent so long trying to break into those things in alpha.
