Maia , no missions??

So I made the long(ish) trek out to Maia, disappointingly there are literally only 2 missions available. Is this due to the ongoing violent protests taking place in the system or am I just unlucky with the BB ? Tried switching from open to solo/ going exploring for an hour/exiting the game & still no additional missions appear [sad]
any one any top tips on what's happening here??

Going out to the Pleiades was my first 'major' exploration/scanning run (made my first millions there and back), and when I arrived there were plenty of jobs, several paying out 100K+.

That was a few weeks ago, however.

If you can make any worthwhile credits scanning, you should/could at least head out to the black hole and its surrounding bodies before moving on.

Hm, well it's Maia B in the system map, but I've not played Elite for so long without an advanced d-scanner and a detailed surface scanner that I can't remember how you'd find it without an infinite range initial ping (the black hole's well out of the intermediate range from near the station. something like 140Ls or more? maybe even 300-400?).

Scanning it won't net you much, btw (I assume the detailed scanner increases yield from black holes as well, but I've never scanned one without it so I can't be certain), so if monetary reward's your main draw it's not really worth it.

Wow never knew this place was there, that s what i love about ED always something new ive never seen, is this place new? its around the area the barnicles were discovered is it not?
