Main faction decay

I took a break from ED for whole 5 days, when i left i was max allied with Empire, what was my surprise when logged back today and saw that i'm FRIENDLY  with Empire

5 days decay of rep from Allied to Friendly is not that i call slow decay... if so after a month main faction rep will be zeroed

Other thing that i noticed that Alliance is immune to decay... i'm friendly for months and no change for that

Something somewhere went terribly wrong..

Actually it is 2 weeks until your rep is decayed to zero.

You can be King with the Empire, go exploring for 2 weeks and when you come back no one will even recognize your face...

This is the only game I have ever seen that actively punishes you for returning after having a break. Genius.

AFAIK there is no faction decay for minor factions, so you will still be allied with everyone you worked for. This actually makes more sense than the old system where you could be allied with factions you have never met before.

IIRC major faction decay stops at friendly terms.

I returned after a break to find myself neutral with the Federation who I was previously maxed allied with.

I agree with not being allied with everyone, but this is a very bad way of fixing this problem. It should be that getting highly ranked with each faction effects the others ranking rather than having an arbitrary decay with each.

Especially important for military ranks where you can hold the highest rank in each army, altho I am sure this will be fixed with a bodged rank decay as well rather than putting in a thought out game enhancing solution.

Saw this also, was allied with all 3, over the last 2 weeks was only in Empire space, so the others dropped to friendly, BUT I went to Fed space yesterday to collect bounties, and as soon as I turned them in, I went back to Allied with the Feds...

i went away for 2 weeks with work and come back to friendly with my major faction but it did not take long at all to regain allied status doing ops for my favourite minor faction at least...

Grinding back to allied status is waste of precious time IMO, besides as i remember FD said that major factions decay will be not so fast as we see now. 1 month off-line should can be reasonable time to decay from allied to friendly

I've been unfriendly with the Federation since Beta. The only negative rep action I've committed (to the best of my knowledge) was that I was caught carrying illegal goods into one of their stations back in November 2014. Despite all the missions, trading, bounties etc. that I've done on their behalf, the unfriendliness never goes away. For some reason I keep getting rank promotion missions from them, though.

I went exploring for about 5 weeks and none of my major factions dropped below friendly. Now I'm back and hitting the BB missions again, I'm having a hard time trying to get beyond Post Commander (which I was at for a few months previously), so I'm curious as to how that calculation is affected.

I am so glad I backed this game!

I think this is soooooo wrong.

I also went on vacation and when I came back, my rep with both the Empire and the Federation dropped. This is demoralising and frustrating. Because you have to spend time on that, time that you'd use elsewhere.

I also took a break from the game and came back on yesterday to find that i was no longer allied with all three main factions and was down to friendly, now to be honest it doesn't really bother me that much, but I do think it's a bit harsh to punish players for not playing.. Faction rep decay should only happen whilst playing the game not when your not playing..

Yep, I've just given up on major faction reputation, it decays so fast as to make it completely pointless to worry about it as I don't play enough hours per week to keep up, unless I grind it that is but where is the fun in that?

At this moment i dont care about decay in Fed or Alliance as i do nothing in their space but rep drop in Empire where i do stuff when i have time is no no.

Also right now this status doesnt affect much, but if decay rate stay as it is and new content will be added it potential can have more impact than now :(

Hello Commanders!

Just to clarify: reputation decay never drops beyond friendly (in fact, it simply stops right near the top of friendly). This decay also works the other way: hostility will revert to unfriendly (this decay "up" affects both minor and major factions).

Hope this info helps a little.

How near the top are we saying? 80- 90 %?

Either way that makes rep decay much less bothersome than I thought previously, so this is great news.

I have seen this. Was friendly with the Empire after 14 days away. Traded 2000 tons of commodities, and moved back to Allied.
