Main menu taking forever to come up.

Sometimes when I push the esc key to bring up the main menu it takes it a minute or more to actually come up. I also noticed the same delay when dropping from orbital cruise. I don't have any frame rate issues. Any ideas?

A stronger pc probably will fix your main manu delay. On the laptop it takes 1 minute or so to come up but on the main pc is a couple of seconds. Not saying that your pc is the problem maybe the game needs some kind of optimization.

In space, staring at nothing but the star field, on my main PC(old, but still runs ED fine), the menu pops up instantly.
In a dock, specifically the shiney star ports, like Galileo, in Sol, the menu can take 10-15 seconds.

Try that on my ancient laptop(that shouldn't run ED:H, but does), and it can take well over 90 seconds, just in space. Lol

Mine was taking ages yesterday. Then started crashing. Then burning electrical smell. Then nothing. Then sad eyes at wifey. Then new GTX 1070 in the mail. Then the waiting.

You can actually burn a video card from playing hard?

I always monitor temps on dual monitor and the card was only at 60 degrees when it fizzled out. It was a GTX 780 oc that was three years old (1 month out of warranty) had been through a tough life of gaming and a nasty lightning strike that had fried the mother board of the last comp it was in. It was just time for it to die RIP.

GPU's can sometimes miscalculate temperature to fan speed rates, which in turn gets things quite toasty. Over time, (much like my 6870HD ATI card back then) the GPU will begin to fail with showing artifacting on screen or bad renders, up to the card itself burning out.

Whats your graphics settings at? Setting AA levels too high can sometimes cause the menu's to have render lag.

I take it that's a known issue that's being looked into? I don't recall the menu behaving that way before dependent upon AA levels....

For what it's worth, relatively recently I switched from having AA on to turning it off and now that I think about it I think my issues with long menu appearance delay have ceased - so I think you're right...though it's tough to be certain.
