Maintenance schedule & Daily downtimes

Would like to suggest that official patches and downtimes be posted in a visible way on the patcher. Would also suggest that metrics be used to identify the best times for daily downtimes. Currently I have doubts that the current daily reboots (at 11pm US Pacific time) is the lowest PCU time for our servers.

Anything that can be done to remove the mystery about the timing for upcoming patches and the need for daily reboots would be most helpful.

Daily maint is carried at 7am UK time. FD is a UK company. Most of the player base is in Europe so it seems about right.

Daily maintenance is 3pm local for me, which is 7am UK time as stated above. I guess the largest (most important) player base is in the UK and around that timezone so makes sense.

Being a based in the UK shouldn't apply towards the support of a global product.

Numbers of customers in the UK irreverent. However, I'm willing to concede if the PCU is lowest during that time.

Actually, I think the number of customers they are likely to annoy (albeit for the massively long time of 15 mins) is something that would be taken into consideration. So player numbers in specific locations would matter. Besides :D it's kinda cool the boot being on the other foot and not having the game going down in OUR prime time for a change.

Again, the only contributing factor to deciding when to take the game offline should be PCU. You won't annoy 100k users if they aren't playing.

I agree with you last statement. There are many services that don't take account their global customers. "They all should" ;)

These downtimes aren't patches. It goes down once a day for maintenance.

Downtime is downtime, regardless if it is a patch or not. Still don't think the downtime is based on PCU. Guess no one really understands that...

Wouldn't it be a might easier and better all round to just plan and implement zero downtime? A cycle of server nodes maintaining the sessions and updating in cycle while never allowing the service to be unavailable by always handing off to a running node before restarting.
