Majestic-Class Interdictor in LTT 9810

So I'm finishing/restarting my trade route with I find that there is a Majestic (The Repulse to be exact) just sitting there at LTT 9810 A 4. Attempting to get closer I was told to back off as I was not authorized to be closer. Should I be worried that it's there? I feel like a story arc is about to advance.

You sometimes see this message in a CZ when a capital ship arrives until you pick a side. Once you've aligned with the same faction, you can then get close without issue.

There are two Empire factions at war in this system. That might be why it's there but not joining in? Either way, thanks OP I went there and grabbed this screenie. I now have a new wallpaper.

Two or three nights ago I was in a CZ where a capital ship dropped in for one faction. I forgot its name, but it had a semi-circular 'tail' at the rear end with orange bits on it (looks like the screenshot above may have that, but it isn't at the right angle). It is not the most technical description, but best I can manage without access to my screenshots right now ;)

I decided I'd side with it and attack the other faction instead!

it's a bit of a surprise when one suddenly appears and you're near by when it happens

Yes, there are 'clouds' and 'lightning-type' effects as it exits SC, not something I'd seen before (I never found one during beta). I had a quick 'omg thargoids' moment, before settling down to watch the capital ship arrive instead.

Here is a video that someone has uploaded for this, replaced previous clip due to bad language!

As others have pointed out before, the whole persistent-ball-o'-lightning-after-appearing thing is reminiscent of the old FFE/FE2 "hyperspace remnants". On the basis of this video evidence I strongly suspect that Capital Ships still have old-style hyperdrives installed rather than Frame Shift Drives, either because the FSD simply doesn't work for things that big or because retrofitting them into the Fleet would be too expensive and time-consuming. I don't think we've ever been told how many capital ships each side has, but since they never seem to actually be destroyed and there's hundreds of warzones where they can appear at any given moment in the game, I suspect the answer is (or ought to be ) "thousands of them".
