Major Power Module Varients

So another MechWarrior inspired idea!

In the MechWarrior universe they have 2 major factions, Inner Sphere and Clan.

They basic produce their own mechs and weapons.
In general, Clan weapons have a longer range, but lower damage than Inner Sphere.

Now we have Federal and Imperial ships. But other than a few PowerPlay weapons, nothing else.

All current modules can be classed as "base" modules.
Then Empire and Federation (and Alliance?) can get their own versions of these weapons, with a sort of running theme throughout.
For example, Federal weapons could have higher damage, and higher heat production, while Empire could have greater range, but lower damage. Or something along those lines.

These modules and weapons could also then be inserted in to the rank lock system, so you've got something other than permits to unlock on the way up the ranks.
