Make all terrain type variations available regardless of where the zoo is

Allowing us players to utilize every terrain type variation regardless of where the zoo is located would give us so many possibilities to build various lifelike habitats.

Here's what I mean: A wide and open savanna habitat with somewhat dry and yellowish grass resembling the Plains Zebra's home in Africa's grasslands. Or a rainforest dome with lush green grass for Madagascar's lemurs. Those grass types look nothing alike and a rainforest dome with yellow and dry grass simply doesn't feel right. This also goes for rock terrain that varies a lot in color (warm brownish to cold gray).

I hope I explained it well enough for you to know what I mean 😊🌱

This isn't typically something that zoos do. Natural habitats are simulated but not copied exactly. For African savannahs as an example, you're more likely to find a mix of clay and sand in the habitat than imported grass covering the whole thing (this can be done in Planet Zoo using the 'light soil' and 'sand' terrains and mixing them together).

In any event, this has been a requested feature since Planet Coaster and it never made it into that game, so I suspect it's either too difficult to be worth it or just impossible.

Maybe I am terribly wrong about this, but it seems like the easiest thing to implement since all the variations are already in the game? Frontier would simply have to remove the "location restrictions". You're right about the fact that it wouldn't necessarily make sense in every possible habitat - but I think that should be the players' choice. My local zoo for example has a rainforest dome with lush green foliage and grass that looks different from the other parts of the zoo. I would love to be able to freely use terrain variations and be as creative as possible when it comes to simulating my lifelike habitats. 🙂

I think it's not a matter of difficulty, and just a matter of whether or not they want to add it in the game. I remember opening up terrain paints were heavily requested in JWE but the devs said it would be extremely difficult/impossible. Except, well, they managed to add it in a free update.

I don't see why adding brand new paints to the game would be impossible in this case, and it's most likely not since the feature is already there. I imagine that'd be like saying adding new plants isn't possible.

Of course, all of this doesn't mean we're definitely getting more terrain painta in the future. It's just one of those "wait and see" things

If they eventually added it to JWE, then I guess there is hope for us 🎉 Maybe they even add brand new ones as you said. For now though, I would be perfectly happy if they simply removed the location restrictions and let us use e.g. "tropical biome grass" in temperate biome zoos and vice versa. 😊

Frankly the only ones I'd like to see would be an asphalt paint, gravel paint, mulch/barkchip paint, and a clay paint. Those three along with grass, stone, and dirt would make building a realistic zoo very easy (clay is even used in desert enclosures more than sand, since sand is extremely expensive and harder to clean). I'd also like to see the 'stamp' function applied to terrain paints to more easily fill cubic spaces.

Those would be fantastic!
