CQC Make Arena Free

No players to play capture the flag. No players for team deathmatch. You can just play Deathmatch and its not very fun when you match Rank 1 players with Rank 40 . Match tends to end in 2-3 min .

Played 10-15 matches today. All with the same people. Same guy won every single match.

Only solution is making Arena free on Steam. Can't think of a better advertisement. More people will end up buying the whole game. ED arena will be swarming with players.

Free , with the option to buy skins or something like that.

So instead of pure red or pure blue you could have white and red , white and blue and so on

I bought the game and I love it, I would like to try out arenas (much much later because I'm still extremely new) but not forking money for content I have no business participating in right now :D
if it was free I'd definitely join up to get blasted.

I doubt very much if making the game free would bring in that many new players. The big difference to Wings would be to allow folks to set up their own private games. You can be sure of a match if you bring your competitors with you.

We need bots as well. If we're expecting people to pay for this then it should be something worth buying.

I'm not sure I understand your post.

If you have the main game then you already can play CQC (Arena) so there is no need to buy Arena seperately.

This only works with games like candy crush where there is essentially no learning curve. Make arena free and you'll see people try one match and quit because the learning curve is so steep and they have no investment. When a cost is associated people are willing actually put in an effort to learn it, take the cost away and that disappears (this is evidenced by the large number of Elite players that got crushed in CQC their first match and haven't gone back, search for the many threads). So sure, it would have tons of downloads and then no more players than now because they'd all go "well, that's impossible" unless you convinced them all to play their first match at the same time and they all only played with each other.

I thought it said I could not play arena and that it had to be purchased separately, I was very confused with the installation process maybe I overlooked something I'll double check.

edit: ok so now it says that I can play. hmpf I could have sworn it said I did not have access to it.

Could you explain to me how games like Warthunder and World of Tanks can exist then ?
Well, unless you say those games have no learning curve...

i love warthunder.... but its arcade mode, which is the meat and spuds of the game for many players is far simpler than Arena.

That being said, i do not agree that arena is hard to get to grips with at all.. Sure there is a lot of nuance you can pick up as you go, but the basics are simple enough imo. Should it be free???? i dunno, its only a 5er.. I guess it depends what FD plan to do with it.

right now there does not seem much content in it as a stand alone title, even at a 5er... however if they are adding more content to it then i do not see why they should not charge. ... if it is taking to long to get a game that does suck, but, does a shop for skins make enough money to make it worth investing in? also what about those who bought it? they may feel a bit narked.

Not saying a skins shop is a bad idea, indeed, can we bring in our main game skins to CQC yet?

So, microsoft are trying to tie up cross platform gaming between xbox and pc... maybe "Arena" would be a good place for FD to dip their toes into this, and that would then bring together a lot of players.

Even in arcade mode WT has a learning curve. From the actual flying to gun convergence, loadouts, landings, mission objectives, map knowledge, tech tree, crew training etc.

I'm not going to judge Arena/CQC, as i know no more of it than what has been posted here, but perhaps if it had taken a few more pages out of WT's book there would be less of a population problem.

And that's not even mentioning WT's SB and RB modes.

The reply you quoted was more about the ever present and condescending "people can't take a challenge" attitude anyway.;)

So much more development should go in the Arena direction... so so much

CQC/Arena is underwhelmingly unfinished. If FD would have a small dedicated team to maintain it with new maps, bots, championships, chat features etc, it wouldn't need to be free.
Now, yeah, maybe it would be better if it would be free to play.....

I had to look in the store just to check the game is £5, it still had people going into work to make the game and they need paying, if it was free what would be the point in ED doing anymore work on updates etc. Dam a packet of s is nearly a tenner these days.....
