Make dying by asphyxiation more enjoyable

Currently if we run out of oxygen for whatever reason it all ends in a fiery explosion, but why? Why should a ship explode due to a lack of oxygen on the flight deck, I think it's both unrealistic and overly dramatic.

Perhaps a more realistic approach to this event from the pilots perspective would be to see the view slowly turning red in the last 10 seconds, opaque so as not to obscure vision then finally going black after the counter hits zero before being returned to the re-buy screen. Add gasping sounds, more laborious breathing. Ok I know it's not the most common experience in ED so why spend time on it but that's not a good reason for taking the easy coding route, common guys make dying by asphyxiation more enjoyable.

.. fade to black sounds good to me, along with various choking and rasping persumably ... nice. :D
Actually, I think what's happening is your escape pod is returning you to the nearest port so your ship blows up, but if and when "iron man mode" comes along (???) something thrown up by any mispelling of asphyxia is;

If affixation is the process of adding a morpheme (to a word) .. then couldn't our commander also be allowed to carry morphine .. to help relieve his pain in his last few moments? Cyanide Pills, standard issue in all ships, might be your option for strandings?

Maybe this game ought to come with a plastic bag.

A plastic bag might also do the trick, and only 5p each :rolleyes: ..

.. or a pet scorpion?
