Make Elite Dangerous more like a simulator

Hi there, have you tried a flight simulator?

Well, I was hoping this game would feel more like a simulator than it does to day. Not saying that there should be 100 buttons in the pit, but a few of them would add too the immersion.

Think about it, haveing to press a button, two or more to start up the power generators and then the engines etc. Turning on lights inside and outside of the ship. No ship should be identical in the startup procedure. But still not too advanced, so everyboddy might learn it in short time. It would have been fun with some more buttons and sim alike feeling to this game.

And for the turrets(guns/canons) of the ship. We should be able to controll the turrets on lager ships, like we did in frontier elite 2 in the old days? Make the big ships feel moore like a big ship, and make even bigger ones. Make some ships so big that they do not fit in to the station, and need smaler ships to ferry people and gods from the ship and int to the station... A lot can be made... Take a look at Star Citizen allso.... Make this the big space sim that everyone wants to play ;)

And what about the need to hire crew for the sips, like we did in FE2 in the old days?

Where is the navigation lights on the ships, like we had in FE2?
There should have been stobes, navlights, landing lights etc, and every one of them should come with a button in the pit. If you do not use propper light settings on the ship nearing a station, the commanders should have get a smal fee for not doeing a propper inflight precedure with light enabled etc

You can do a lot to make this game more fun. Do not dumb it down because a few people do not have time to learn in 5 min of their lives.

Happy hunting.

Sounds like great fun to me.

Sadly it'll never happen, especially now the game is Xbone bound. simple controls and dumbed down features are the order of the day. ;)

I don't think there's a need to go full DCS-mode, not that anyone is suggesting that.
I would like some features that made us feel more connected to our ships, something to feel that our ships are pieces of machinery and not just stat levels. I think that it's hard to accomplish, although FD have done a fairly good job at it already IMO.

A short startup procedure (just a few button presses, taking 15 seconds maximum) would be nice IMO.

Sounds great to me, can't wait to have fines for not having the correct lights on. Brilliant idea!

Enable pre-flight checks if you want a pseudo start-up procedure.

Sounds like fun features to me, although I highly doubt Elite will ever match the fidelity of a full on sim like DCS World or Rise of Flight!

I do fly DCS 80% of the time I on my PC... I do not want full "DCS-mode", like i said.. A few buttons would help.. Anywhy, if FD dumb this down more, and ships Elite Dangerous to the console market... they will loos me as a player..... Star Citizen next...

Not gonna happen.
FD are catering to the console market now.

The game will end up on the junk yard, nobody wanting to play it. Strange that all developers end up wanting the console market... Thought that they where supposed to make the PC game they always wanted, and now they are abiding the dumbs.

PC is the real deal, console is junk. Yes I have a X-box that I never use.

Nooooooo, not this, please not this. I hated having to sit in station with the star dreamer active for hours on end until enough crew became available for me to take off in my brand new Panther Clipper. It annoyed the hell out of me then and it would now.

Well, depends on how it is implemented ;)

I don't understand the "console(and PC) wars" personaly. Also Xbox has a bad rep because it always, ALWAYS, appeals to the CoD/FPS/pew pew crowd. YET when I played FC4 for awhile I ran into a ton of stealth players who prided themselves on knife only no alert playthroughs which actually takes half a brain(minimum) patince and skill, though I did run into more pew pew-ers than I liked I ran into far more thinkers. Point being if they have a "buy me because" trailer with 75%-80% beautiful sceneryand the remaining 25%-20% be ship fight. They need to make the smart move and advertise to the people like us and not CoD type market. This is something HaloWars didn't do right, their advertising was based on the Halo fans so it was actiony, they should've advertised to stratedgizers. Despite the bad advertising choice Halo Wars has a huge following and there was/is a petition to get a HW2.

Long story short advertising is key for ED. ;)
