Make on-foot missions and Space more joined up.

Now that my Fps is above 30 for most planetary activity, I've been trying out the on-foot missions. Although I'm finding them entertaining but they feel isolated from the space part of the game.

I would suggest that if you are flying to or from a mission location in your own ship, there is an interdiction from an NPC ship connected to that mission. This likelihood of an interdiction or even many interdictions, would be based on the threat level of the selected mission. It's a similar idea to the existing mechanic where in some space transport missions you get told one or many commanders have been sent to stop you.

What would happen if you were traveling there via Apex? you can't interdict Apex

There is that.

Perhaps another solution would be to have mat reward options in Odyssey split foot play mats with space play mats and the same for in ship missions. If you're playing without a ship you can choose the credit /rep/influence rewards if its one of the options happens to be a ship engineering mat.

Balancing the right split so people playing on foot only (how popular an approach is this anyway) don't feel like they can't get decent mat rewards for suit and gun engineering might be a trick but say, just as a starting suggestion, something 2/3 to 1/3 favoring the context of the mission?

It would at least mean that playing on foot can still benefit your space game, and your space game can benefit your foot game.

A couple of other ideas, just shooting off the top of my head.

An on foot collapsible mining rig in your suit backpack or on the srv?

Of course the big elephant in the room is EVA mechanics and on foot core mining :D Jet pack to target asteroid, jump around and place charges, jet back to ship and retreat before the boom.
