When accepting a mission you should get a message from the client thanking you. This could be perfunctory for normal missions and more elaborate for VIP missions e.g scientists could tell you a liitle bit about the what they are hoping to achieve, who they are doing the work for etc. Or if time sensiitive they should explain why they need to get somewhere in a hurry.
During VIP missions the client should occasionally make remarks via the chat log (not the messaging system) for example if flying close to an earth like planet they could say 'wow the planet looks amazing from up here', or for near misses with other ships say 'phew that was close'.
When arriving at the destination the client shouldn't just say 'here's the next destination', they should tell you what they are doing if they are waiting around e.g taking radiation samples or whatever.
When the mission is complete you should receive a follow up thank you message in the inbox with some details about how you've helped them achieve whatever goals they had.
There should be enough variety in these responses that it doesn't get stale. If need be ask the community for generic back stories that could be incorporated.
Except for the first and last message, passengers should always communicate via the chat log and not the messaging system. It always feel strange that someone on your ship should email you rather than direct communication.
