Make Pirates target cargo based on price. [Balancing]

Pirates as they stand now will attack a shipment of 1 biowaste at the exact same rate as a shipment of 300 gold.
This is the space equivalent of a thief breaking into a car to steal a stick of gum.

Two things need to be done about this.

1: Higher value and or quantity cargo will have higher chances to have pirates go after you. and inverse for lower value cargo.

2: Higher skilled pirates will attack higher value and or quantity cargo.

This balances the risk reward of trade, where you know you wont be attacked carrying 300 tons of biowaste at a much lower profit margin vs carrying 300 tons of gold.
where as it stands if you can afford higher value cargos then their is never a reason to haul lower value cargos for lower profit margins.

I believe this is fixed in 2.3, but if not. I support it!

I also believe that pirates should spawn in appropriate ships and wings for the job.
Ideally, they should spawn with 1-2 fighters types, and 1 hauler type.
I always find it silly when an eagle demands my cargo. When I'm flying an Anaconda. :p

This is largely fixed as of 2.3. Pirates will now scan your ship, then ask you for either-x tons of any cargo, x tons of a particular item, x credits worth of cargo, or x credits worth of a particular item.

Besides attacks making more sense in terms of what you carry in order for pirates to make it worthwhile, I think that also pirates should not start interceptions and attacks on ships that are far superior to their own. If they do, they should attack in groups at least so that NPCs that demand cargo have a fair chance of making life for a CMDR very difficult. I really never felt any incentive to give any cargo, if they really have a shot at destroying me I might be persuaded to give them what they want.

I actually quite like that...

But...

Could you imagine the amount of crying that would go on in this forum if they implemented that? There would be more salt here than in all the oceans combined...

This used to be the case for me when I traded in 1.2, but more recently my Type 9 has been getting damaged far more easily. I take damage during every encounter due to having a fighter bay in lieu of shields, but only the larger ships (Gunships, Pythons, etc) pose a real risk to me. The new 2.3 changes are going to be great, because not only is there a real threat, but a way to deal with it too, in case I can't escape.

I agree. NPC pirates should not be interdicting CMDRs even for several tons of "tasty" biowaste.

"Hand over your doo-doo CMDR, or die". [mad]

Your fully engineered conda and wingmates do not intimidate the likes of "Mace Windu" His trusty sidewinder will rid you of your 200 cloth.
