Make space travelling great again!

Here is my idea.

While in supercruise the player can activate the "Sling shot" function that instead of slowing down near objects in space, does the exact opposite, speeding up the ship, but at the risk of being very dangerous for example if the player collide with the planet or passes too near of it.

This could also spend an insane amount of fuel and even need specific materials to activate, so it is not a "use all the time" feature.

This would engage supercruise because the fastest way to get to some planet would now not be by going in a straight line to it, but instead checking for planets in the path to make consecutive slingshot techniques gaining speed and therefore reducing eta to destination while providing gameplay in supercruise.

Also chasing in supercruise would be a lot funnier and would require skill on when and where to slingshot to catch that other ship.

What do you think?


TLDR: A way to travel faster in supercruise by using planets gravity but at the cost of being dangerous, fuel and materials.
