Make SRV Resource Gathering More Realistic and less Grind by adding Dense Resource Fields

OK, issues with wheeled SRVs when bases have hovering skimmers aside . . .

It seems tiresome and unrealistic (not hard-science at all), that FD have one material rock to blast and gather every square kilometer or 20.

If there is an ejecta cone or impact crater, or if a planet is rich in mineral x, or even if it isn't but a player finds a rare deposit of a mineral on the planet:

Let there be an entire field of iron nuggets (in relatively close proximity) to harvest.

That would make sense and probably eliminate complaints of "grind" when gathering mats on planet surfaces.

Have you been at one of the now easy to find geological features? These are usually larger fields with many materials to collect. To be fair, they don't appear on every planet, but often enough.

No, not yet. After next week I intend to spend a few days locked into 3.3 play and I'll look then so thanks for the tip.

Fields of materials should be really common, imho. You might find the odd gold nugget in a stream, but there's lots of seams and deposits of large amounts of materials, which is why we have mines.

You realise that we are dealing mostly with airless rocks to small to ever have had an atmosphere let alone water? No way for natural processes to concentrate surface deposits, it will all be underground, hence as mentioned the volcanic sites. There are very high concentrations of minerals around volcanic and bio sites, you pick up between 100 and 300 nodes each bearing 3 samples of the mat in question. Bio site are larger so you get more, much more, and they are easy to find, some bodies having up to 50 sites. Also note that rare mats are concentrated in these sites also, so picking up 30 Polonium from one site is not unsual.
