Make the Standard Docking Computer standard!

I think they should integrate the standard docking computer like they did the ADS. Then give it a toggle in the ship settings like night vision and the headlights. Preferably one that doe snot add to the ships native power draw. Or, at the least, not adding to power draw while it's turned off. Then people can use it when and if needed and you always have it without needing a slot used. It is called the, "standard," docking computer afterall. Why not make it standard.

While they are at it adding a shortcut in the settings to toggle standard/auto docking computer would be nice too. Then I can turn it on when I want to be lazy more conveniently. 8d

I have to say no. Players are going to have to learn how to dock unless they don't have Horizon. Then they don't have to worry about landing on a planet.

The other thing It might be easier to View the Forum Advanced search and look for the common topic.

There was a guy with physical motor skills problems who made a topic like this. I think it makes sense, I can't believe that an "optional" computer would take a full optional internal. Maybe a utility mount at most, but fully integrated would be ideal.

You know until you understand what a disability is you will never know. It likes me. For 7 years of my life, I had a job and work and once I started having Seizures 5 every day. I had to quit my job. I always had to ask my loved one for help. Everything from going to the store or to my doctor until my Epilepsy was under control with the right medication which took 15 years.

The point I am is if you're disabled there no shame for asking for help from your loved ones.

Back to the topic. The Docking computer only cost 4.500 credits and only take one spot.

The ADS and DSS got integrated into a free, weightless module, so it seems that FDev have decided against players needing to make outfitting choices. So it's reasonable to ask for the DC to be the same. Along with the KWS, manifest scanner and wake scanner.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Things must be hard for you but it is good that you have loved ones who are willing to help.

But back to the topic, I do think it could be integrated, one spot in some ships, the small ones, it is too much sometimes. Ot at least move it to an utility spot.

I disagree(for the scanners), the docking computer would be nice to have as a built-in module, but the scanners should stay as utility mounts.

Count me in the group that's confused as to how a scanner capable of surveying an entire star system can be integrated into a ship without a space/power penalty, but an autopilot (barely) able to guide you into a designated landing bay takes up the same amount of space a 4ton cargo rack.

I like the idea of moving the scanners to utility mounts, and building in the docking computer instead. For something like a Type-9, it seems almost a given.

The FSS scanner was a good decision that actually improves build diversity. in the previous system, most everyone had at least the system scanner in order to make sure they could find things in system they were looking for. Now we have that slot permanently opened for whatever you want to put in it. The same could be said for the docking computer. Some players pretty much need it in order to not be stranded in space, which reduces their build diversity/effectiveness since that slot is always used by said docking computer on every ship regardless of the purpose of the ship in question. It was actually to the point that prior to beyond, my cargo/trade ship did not carry a system scanner as the slot was needed more for the docking computer, which left me blind to anything in system that I may have wanted to pay attention to.
