Making $5m per hour from Trading

Hi All,

I've noticed many posts from people claiming they are making $5m per hour from trading.

If you assume you can get about 3 to 4 runs per hour on a good run, this means you would have to be making nearly 3000cr per tonne profit on a round trip on a Lakon 9 with max cargo capacity, constantly on the same route.

I've rarely seen any runs where I made anything close to that - 2500cr per tonne is about the best I've seen, and even then it tends to start reducing if you run the route multiple times. I've seen higher than that but mainly where the station was much further away which means you would do less runs / hour.

And all that's before you take into account running costs as well.

Are these folk exaggerating or am I just no good at finding good trade routes?
I was making 3200 a ton for the past week hauling imperial slaves and Indium. The slaves dried up (Tradeconda) so I switched to Palladium with a lower payout but still just under 2800 per ton. I am talking round trip. If you get a good jump range you can do at least 5 or 6 hauls an hour, maybe more if you don't goof around in the bulletin board.

Rares are YELLOW coloured goods available in some stations. Their sell cost is determined by distance you haul them. Up until a T7 they are probably the best thing to trade in. The hotspot for buying them is around Lave but they are all over the place. Without trying too hard you can make 250k per hour in an Asp.

I did an (unoptimized) test of the Lave Loop and got ~350k/hour, in a Cobra. It should be more in a nicely kitted Asp (fewer jumps, bigger hold). I should do another test since I now have a nicely kitted ASP, I guess.

As already stated, this is a 7 month old thread.
But for those interested 5m c/h is easily obtainable, (400t cargo or over) you can even use external sites to find them. These are all within 30 ly jumps, easily do 3-4 runs an hour.
Like these.

I made around 3M/hour trading rares in my Cobra (cargo of 44 if I remember), trading corn which had a limit of 50, and I forget what else (some kind of alien skin) between two stations. It was several jumps between the two stations' systems, but close enough to where I didn't need to refuel until docked. I was optimized more for speed and jump range.

This was a month or two ago. After making 10s of millions this way, I decided to cash out and do some exploring instead.

I found a 1.2-1.3M Cr trip. I works out at about 4.4MCr/hr once I stripped my clipper for range. Running without weapons and everything apart from FSD is D Class. I get 17ly Full. I still have shields.

That was the Diso Ma Corn rare trade goods run, when Diso had an increased alotment of 50 tons. Unfortunately no longer possible, since the alotment is back to its normal value ...

It's possible to find 2000cr per tonne one way. It's finding one of those (or as close to), and then finding a profitable return commodity that's the trick.

Or the three way, always more fun ;) Unfortunately not having an in game TCE makes the process of route finding tedious. (FD hates players and provides torture, not gameplay)

Uh, yes, those are pretty common. The most "difficult" thing is to find two systems close enough not to require 4 or 5 jumps with stations that are close to the star.
Basically, barring some local specificities, that means doing Imperial slaves/gold/palladium/progenitor cells, mostly.
And, you do more cr/hour in an anaconda because you do less jumps and jump faster even if you have 50 less cargo.

I can make nearly 1.5 million in a single trip with my 432t conda and around 200000 to 500000k on the return. 3jumps and under 300ls from star. That reaches easily 7000000 per hour. I'm not the fastest, using docking computer to be able to write or read in the forums.
What you have to know is that in a certain area in space, imperial slaves are VERY cheap to buy.... I don't wanna spoil any route for my fellow citizens but come on! Why not share it with everybody?
Plus, i am pretty lazy and am really doing it for the grind ( sorry to the real traders out there, i respect your dedication and work, i am just a TPT victim)

Huh that's it? I make 20 to 30 Mill an hour in an anaconda on a 1 jump slave route. I make 2 mill for selling the slaves and 300k for crop harvesters.

You are really optimistic in your times xd. 6 minutes from station to station in a 3 jumps (per trip, not round trip) route? :O
