Making Money in the Beta seems like a cruel joke

Shame on me for not having 10 billion saved on March 26th or whatever but, it almost feels like FDev did everything they could to make it impossible to raise funds to outfit our shiney new toy in the beta. By far the most prominent of which is wiping all of our trade data. I flew around the bubble tonight with a hold full of V Opals checking inara and struggling with the map for boom and investment systems that were high tech or refinery etc. and eventually just gave up and sold they at ~200k per. Why? Because do I really wanna make the additional 90 mill to buy that armory to confirm that its bugged or whatever when I should probably be playing (working) in the live server saving up credits? Cause by the looks of it, thats what Elite is now, a game where we play (work) to maintain a big ship so we can hoard stuff. Detailed fix? - Put some more thought into people ENJOYING your space sim. Shorter Version - Cut all upkeep costs by half. Add UC. Use one of the strengths you do have, creating cool art, to make us a bridge interior so we can see ourselves jump in the thing and be immersed in what feels like a ship we worked hard for, not just another megaship we happened to have paid for and can move where we want it.

One of the things about Beta is that since they take the BGS snapshot as well from two weeks before, by the time we get into it almost all the states have decayed to "None". And then the player population is much lower and not generally doing its normal activities, so they don't start up again much either.

So long as they're not actually trying to test the BGS it's not so bad...
