Making money

So, killed me something like 130 sidewinders, earned myself a cobra. Went and bought it. Fly out, waiting to get into hyperspace distance and... it self combusted. Insurance was 2400, I had 2100. Don't feel like spending another 5 hours to kill another 130 sidewinders. Any other way of making money?

Ending process in Task manager should have restored your Cobra.

As for making money if you see any loose cargo canisters flying around pick them up and sell at the station. You can earn from about 350Cr to 5000+Cr for a canister depending on its type.

Here is a piece of advice from another game, I think it will also apply here.

Never fly what you cannot afford to lose. :D

Having said that, there are limited ways to make money in the alpha, its supposed to be a testing ground for some aspects of the game. Have you thought about pirating a couple of anacondas and selling their cargo on the black market?

No ****. The problem was that I bought the piece of crap for 41000, not 48000.

The spontaneous self-combustion feature works brilliantly, yay! I didn't want to play pirate, I don't like being the *******. But I guess I'll go for that. Thanks.

Also sell everything that is equipped on your Sidewinder prior to upgrading to Cobra. You will earn some money that way. If you have upgraded hull on Sidewinder downgrade it to the most cheap one before upgrading the ship.

prolly the same invisible-mesh hanging outside the station since like forever. just fly slow and take a left outside zelada.

and make liberal use of the "kill-process" bug to earn some quick bucks.

ie. sell everything on your ship and then kill the ed process via taskmanager. rinse repeat. ever so often it is worth upgrading your sidewinder with the max money items you can afford and SAVE. then rinse repeat until you got a few 100Ks and enjoy cobra with 2 heat-seekers and gimbal pulses. or whatever fotm you want to go with :D

Should you have to do that? I'm hoping in the final game a ship's kit will be included in it's sale price.

That kill process thing doesn't seem to work. But I think I can just get the free sidewinder, sell the lasers, smash the ship around the base then get a new free sidewinder.

Can't believe people are advocating the use of cheats to earn money / bypass losses.

What's wrong with you all ?

Any other way of making money?

Find cargo canisters in space and turn in at the station - some can be quite valuable.

If there are none you may need to "acquire" some by means of criminals acts ;)

Ligua, we actually need Alpha and Beta testers to do anything and everything needed to cheat and exploit. Thats what finding exploits is all about, we want our testers to search every nook and cranny, leave no stone unturned and bump every asteroid in the field.. ;)

I honestly went through ~ 140 kills over about 6 hours of play to get a Cobra. First time out of the hangar, 30 seconds out, it explodes for no reason. I'm missing 300 for getting another one. Am I going to exploit the game to get back to that level? I'm afraid I am. I don't have another 6 more hours to wear my wrist down.

stick at it

Bud i feel your pain. It's a bit of a grind to get the full tilt Cobra.. but

If you stick with it and get your skills up killin' pirates in the federal bond with the free SideWinder, to the point where you can afford the Cobra and two Gimbeled Beam Lazers.. The credits role in thick & fast.

You can sell the Pulse4 Lazer on the way to kitting out with the Beam3 Gimbleled.

Half the point for me on the Alpha is building your skills for when the real deal comes our way.

Let's face it.. they wouldn't give the keys to a ship and 100 credits to some novice shmuk now would they?

Agree, as long as those exploits are reported :D
Alpha and Beta is the time to break the game in every possible way imo.

This is fair. What I'm doing right now is getting a new Sidewinder, selling the guns, going out, ramming the wall. Get a new Sidewinder. Rinse and repeat.

Greetings Commanders,

There was a bug, not sure if it has been fixed yet, whereby if you get blown up and you get the message "your ship has been destroyed" etc - at that point kill the client window.

The game then doesn't recognise you have lost your ship and reloading the game gives you your ship back as it was.....

Of course I hope this is fixed for the launch, but is a nice workaround while we play through the Alpha/Beta stages of the game.

Kro

It seems to me quite fair to use a bug in order to fix something that was caused by another bug. Some people spend lots of time to earn money to buy Cobra and I can understand their frustration when they are back to square one with basic sidewinder due to a weird bug in the game. I have personally a whole day during A 3.0 to earn enough money for my first Cobra. Then when I could not load a scenario due to SYNC bug I have cleared a save and spend half of the other day earning money for the Cobra again.

Of course exploits should not be used in case you destroyed your ship crashing into something or to get infinite amount of money.

However I think that invisible wall should have been fixed long time ago. We have similar threads created almost each day.

I did it too and you would be amazed at how often this post crops up. Personally i killed meself another load of sidewinders was easier second time around .

Of course second time it is easier as you get experience as well as you know which equipment allows you to get kills faster.

You misunderstand.

That exploit has been found - continued use of it is what I object to.

Finding new exploits is expected and welcomed.
