Having been trying help in the unacheivable anti-pirate CG as of last night, I have spent the last 2 hours flying backwards and forwards between RES sites in 20 Ophiuchi trying to find anything bigger than a Cobra MkIII to kill in my Vulture. Occasionally stopping to kill a few adders every now and again. Close to quitting I realised that I could, like most things in this game, make it challenging myself...
This is how I did it.. Firstly I realised that merely holding down the primary weapon trigger for 12 seconds until my enemy was destroyed was not fulfilling enough, my fix? Don't deploy my hardpoints. Yes, ramming my opponent to death was far more entertaining and those Eagles are pretty hard to hit. Secondly I tried closing my eyes and collide with my target using just the sounds of the enemy thrusters. I had gone too far, I did not realise the pirates had an ally, the asteroids had turned against me. Eventually, with my eyes open again, my last step. Disabling my shields leveled the playing field, it had been a while since I had been destroyed by a NPC pirate Sidewinder (if ever). After following these steps Deadly Sidewinders had become just that deadly, too much so. I think I must get back into my Python, sell my guns and shields and go and do some serious Res bounty hunting.
*NOTE* In those two hours I did actually come across one lonely pirate Dangerous Python, who after his disappointment of finding me with no cargo to plunder, I attacked. He was gracious enough to float around in space presenting his power plant to me and not once did he return fire. I eventually felt pity on him when he cried "Impossible" and "How is this happening to me?". I'm not sure he would of understood if I would of explained how this was happening to him. Perhaps the dangerous was to signify the ability he has to fly at all, a warning not approach, because it was not a rank gained through combat. Anyway to make amends, I destroyed a miner and took the cargo to him. My good deed for the day.
