At present, we have specific roles for different ships. But they are more of a hint based on styling and available internal slots. I'd like to see some additional enhancements for ship frames along the lines of the bonuses on Mech chassis in Mechwarrior Online. Something along the lines of;
- Trader: Cargo bays hold N% more cargo (say 10%) and only count as 50% mass for Jumps. This would make trader focused ships preferrable, particularly for large loads.
- Combat: N% less heat generated by weapons for a more attack focused ship, or bonus %Res on armour fitted, or raised/widened turning sweet-spot.
- Explorer: % increase to sensor/probe range, reduced fuel consumption, increased afmu efficiency. Or more likely just an exo-bio scanner built in.
- Mining: Increased probe duration or speed, reduced mining laser power draw, increased probe/laser range.
- Tourism: Same as trader but for passenger cabins.
