Making the cockpit more personal Ide !!

Looking at the cockpit im thinking that it should be and option to be able to personlize the apperance of the cockpit.
Should be able to add "wonderbown" "noddingdolls" or some other Things on the UI in the cockpit. Enny other ides out there how or what could be done to make the cockpit look more to Your liking?
just thinking it would be a Nice personal toutch to how to make the ship feel more like Yours. :S

Pet fur in zero g: bad

I used to know a certain CMDR (not gonna name and shame here) who used to fly with a cat in his lap. Everything was OK until he hit a period of zero G and the cat freaked out and attached itself to his face with its claws. That was bad, but what was worse was the poor sap was docking at the time and the stationers' computers decided he was loitering and blew him, the cat, and his sidewinder, to pieces.

I just wish each ship did not have an identical layout for the HUD. Different ship builders should have different huds. Even if its just ever so slightly or just the color.

Think of different car interiors, the tachometer, speedo is all there in all the cars... just differently laid out depending on the car manufacturer.

Being a left-handed person, I'd like the option of a left handed cockpit. From my viewpoint, when I look at my pilot he's got the wrong hand on the joystick.....

Since the HUD appears to be projected, somehow, it must be computer-generated. I'd expect to be able to drag and drop the various elements around to positions I like. You know, like you have been able to do in photoshop since the early 1990s.

Custom HUD design, bobbleheads, Maybe a cube here, a rocket there, some colourful windows (stained glass?), an own MP3 .. or in the future, MP9000 Dolby 20.6 player aaaaand ...

Why remaining in the cockpit?

Howabout: Weapon skins (green or blue lasers?), custom stickers, ship skins (adjust the placement of the engines, some more details t oarmor, etc.), Engine fire skins/colour change (red fancy engine, yeah!)


Man there are so much possibilities, I would spend ALOT of money on cosmetic adjustments, pelase add FD, I would LOVE that!

Would make the game colourful indeed, maybe a seasonal offering like Guy Fawkes ?
But these are all moot if we don't have external views and can't enjoy them ourselves.

I would like to see a paper photo sticked to a wall or maybe, more "high tech", a digital picture frame. (Maybe dependent on the ship you fly; a paper photo would definitely fit into the used look of a Cobra while an Imperial Clipper needs something more sophisticated.)
The picture would be linked to a folder on you computer and whatever you place in there will be displayed on the picture: the most awesome screenshot you took in ED, a photograpy of your family/partner/dog/cat or some erotic art - it is up to you!

This idea is not limited to the cockpit, of course. As soon as the ships get walkable, something like this could be found in your private quaters, the caboose or any other fitting place.
