Making the jump from XBOX to PC

I'm loving the fact that I don't have to adjust to different controls as my xb1 controls are already there by default. The sensitivity of the ABXY buttons on the PC aren't as precise for pulling up the overlay menus but I'm getting used to it.

I appreciate most the 2560 X 1080 resolution advantage of my monitor vs tv. Plus the game just looks better.

I leave behind about 100mil, an ASPX, Cobra MKIII, MKIV, and a multi roll mildly engineered Conda. To my surprise I am looking forward to taking my time and grinding my way up from the bottom with my little sidewinder. Going really try to sink my teeth into bounty hunting this time around as opposed to smuggling and rare trading. Maybe dab in some power play this time around as well.

See you out there among the stars!

I have also gotten into PC from Xbox, though I haven't entirely left my Xbox account behind, since my friend still plays there. It's a good game to occupy my boring 12-hr overnight shifts.

One of us. One of us. One of us...

Oh hi there :)
Yeah use the chance to try out any ships you missed and enjoy zipping around without consequence :D

Speaking of graphics there's also the graphics.xml file you can tweak to give you 8k textures or apply a shading change if your pc is up to the task. (Mine in my sig chugs a tiny bit on 8k textures but only when planet landing, solid 60fps all other times).

Oh! More importantly, if you aren't yet aware, you can tweak your HUD color on PC. Only by modifying an .xml file though.
If you are using Steam, the file path is (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64) and the file is called "GraphicsConfiguration.xml"

Then use this website to find a HUD scheme you like, it also tells you what to change. (Don't forget to use the 'extended range' button to give you more color options)

Welcome to the world of adult gaming OP.......for over 30 years I have had consoles and computers.....you won't regret it.

Open source
Better fps and graph8cs
Better tools like flight sticks ect
Head tracking
Voice commands

And most of them console games you have owned over the years you can have a emulator for.

And if you ain't into online gaming and don't want to waste 50 quid a game like on console....well....welcome to the land of the free.

The BBC Micro wasn't a PC, and neither was my Acorn Electron

The main reasons I can see are that it's cheap compared to a PC. Yes you can build a gaming PC for the price of an XBox, but you have to build it. Ease of use, just pop in your game disc, install, update and play. Comfort, sit on your settee and game on your 50" TV. Every game is optimised for your specific controller, all XBox controllers being identical. Every game is optimised for your particular display (TV).

There are many advantages to gaming on console, it just depends on the kind of experience you prefer. Personally, I prefer the PC experience and while I do have a 360, I wouldn't spend money on an XBox One/PS4 simply because the game library doesn't interest me. Too many 1st/3rd person cover based generic grey/brown crap for my liking.

Could someone remind me what that cheap but amazing Thrustmaster product is called?

Cost, convenience. The Xbox, copy of Elite and a year's Xbox Live came to less than £200. I have a good laptop which I use for laptoppy things (I use Linux) and I don't want a PC. I'm not going to spend all that money just to play Elite with a flight stick.

Aren't there flight sticks for the xbox? I know there were some for the 360.
