Making the run to Beagle Point for the first time

One thing I'll add to all the advice is, use EDDiscovery and Captain's log to keep track of your trip. Make a note of the interesting stuff you find and you should have a pretty good memento once you're all done, plus a list of systems you may want to revisit one day (say, when landing on ELW's comes you may want to revisit that pretty ringed one, as an example).

Only other suggestion would be to use Iridium Wing when coming back - they will keep you and your data safe.

EDD is an excellent tool and one which I only started using on DWE. Not only does it help to keep track of your journey it also (in my opinion) helps mitigate extreme Space Madness.

I'm 400lys from Sag A* and having an enforced break due to the power supply cable on my laptop deciding that insulation was for losers and real winners try and start fires with 230 watts....

i second the the advice from the good CMDR Voorheez, EDD has helped me mitigate any motivation issues on my admittedly comparatively short trek into the darkness. Captains Log I absolutely love, but find keeping it up to date a little bit wearing, although I have tracked 30 million in profits so far, not including Firts Discoveries and the periods where I've Jonked or just flat given up updating the log! I admit profits aren't everything, but it does help knowing I'm progressing along the road to Elite in something, having no patience for grinding on a trading route..........

This is why I only tend to log systems with Earth likes and otherwise interesting ones - this does remove the possibility of it tracking your profits as you go, but I'm fine with being surprised if it means not every system I jump to turns into a click fest :)

I use CL in lazy man mode - simply keep the Notes page open, enter ELW, TFWW, WW, TFHMC as and when I find a shiny, dont bother using the icons.. I can then export CL to CSV and open in Excel to find/filter on my shinies..

Made it to Sgr A* a few hours ago. In record time, even -- last time I made the trip it took me 7 days to get there, while this time it only took about 4 1/2. But yeah, I've decided to wait a few days, maybe even a week or two, before I head out to Beagle Point. Pulled a 6-hour jump marathon earlier today and I'd rather not get burned out too soon.

Until next time!

Just be prepared for 'burn out'.

I went to BP in about 4 days back in erm, February I think it was. My Connie's parked 20k ly's from Sol now, and hasn't moved since Feb. Partly because of 'burn out' and partly because of other games released around that time *cough* DS3.

It got to me even though I know I'll be Elite ranked explorer when I dock...but that's the rub...I'll prolly get shafted by an NPC because I have basic weak shields (just for ground bumps exploring) and have collected a few tons of wreck data, before that happens. That'll be 'uninstall' territory right there !

Enjoy your journey. I wish you the best of luck commander.

Good luck commander. I'm also heading to Beagle point from Colonia. We won't run into each other since I'm on XBox One but I do wish you the best of luck.

And what's this, someone saying you can't take high res shots in open? Is this true?
