Making the trade grind less painfull

Hello everyone. With the disappointment of the pricing for the vulture, having saved up 7 mil for it I decided to suck it up and trade my way up to it as fast as I can. Currently, I have a Type 6 with 100 tons of cargo capacity, as I swapped out a 4 ton cargo rack for a fuel scoop to do the occasional rare trade and a Jump range of about 22-23 ly. My current trade route nets me about 150,000 credits two ways. With that, I have two questions. I can usually only play two to three days a week, maybe eight hours in total. Is there any route I can do, that would net me better profits, or is my trade route just fine? Is there any method I can use to earn about 17+ million credits in about 6 days total? And is there a way to dull out the utter borringness of trading?

Thanks in advance!- CMDR Kbear

Livening up your trading with other activites is the best idea imo, you don't wanna burn out. When you view trading as purely a means to an end rather than a fun activity in itself, it's time to stop.

I'm a pirate by trade, which whilst fun can be pretty intense so I took out a little hauler for a "holiday" exploring, and whilst not especially profitable, was really relaxing and a nice change of pace.

Variety is the spice of life.

There are some great lectures on YouTube I like to listen to - expand my mind while filling my digital wallet ;)

Sounds interesting, but I get enough lectures in class. ;)

Most of my time in the Elite Universe is spent rocking my Viper in combat zones as well as bounty hunting. However, I have been waiting for the Vulture for nearly a month, and it is something that I am really excited to obtain.

To answer your question we would need to now more. 150K sounds great, but only as long as its one trade from A->B. To get a picture we would need to know what your average profit per ton per hour is. In general i always aim to get at least 2,5K profit per ton in at best at 10 minutes, at worst 15.

One way my CR/t is about 500 one way, the other way is 1000. The distance to the station that earns where I sell for 500 cr/t is about 120 ls away, the 100 cr/t station is 350 ls away. I would say round trip maybe about 7-10 minutes.

I'm guessing the best way to do it is join Mobius and mooch off a couple Type 9 or Anacondas in a wing, and get 35k a pop every time they sell their load in addition to your own regular profit.

With all due respect, I enjoy PvP interaction, my first time pirated was on may way to Lave by a Clipper pilot who scanned me, saw I had nothing proceeded to have a nice talk with me and wished me farewell, second attempt I escaped in the interdiction stage. Maybe I have been lucky, but I enjoy having the (slight) danger from pirates.

You can do better then. That's 9k cr/t/h. If I am grinding (instead of coasting like now) I will not take anything less than 15k cr/t/h for a point-to-point route in an Anaconda, which will be even higher in a T-6 due to its speed and agility.

At that income rate you might be better served doing a rare loop on a T-6, will net you 1.2 M Cr/h minimum while you are generating only 900k Cr/h atm. That or find a better A-B-A route.

You can still get herd immunity even in open by travelling in packs. If a pirate interdicts, all the traders drop out of SC at the same time and the number of targets will have a distracting effect on the attacking pirate. It would also be hilarious for a pirate cobra to be trampled to death by angry T9s :p

OP - You can join me on a wing, am making around 650,000 credits each way hauling 500T, about a 15 minute round trip. I just listen to music, lots of albums, never get bored. Also switch flight assist off to keep the flying interesting.

Of course an Oculus rift and Hotas/pedals helps with things

Depending on your current budget you have to invest - as a general rule for myself, i never trade anything below the value of tabacco. With a good supply and demand you get at least 1,1 K credits from that one way. Hightech and Industrial stations proved to be always a good combination for me. Trade HighTech like Progenitor Cells or Performance Enhancers (check if prohibited) to an industrial station, sell and buy gold or platinum and bring that back to the HighTech station. To see what i can sell and get, i use http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/

Might not be up to date these days, but it gives you a hint. Might not ease the boreness of trading, but at least that way you will reach your goal faster.

In the Lave rare cluster of system, last trip I made took something like two hours (don't even ask me why, because I don't know either) i had 33 tons of cargo and only made something like 550k for a 285ly journey to a rares station, on the back I only made about 100k.

I listen to various songs in the background myself and watch t.v but you have to play with sound on so you know when is going down.

The Bruce,

I'm completely serious when I ask, what do you watch? I've watched/listened to quite a bit of The Teaching Company's works, which is what your comment made me think of immediately. Would love to watch something other than Dexter while trade grinding (I've got 3 screens, which helps A LOT). Not that I'm complaining about Dexter- I'm just nearing the last season!
