Malayan Tiger tests positive for coronavirus

I read earlier that a four yr old Malayan tiger named Nadia has tested positive for the coronavirus. Sorry I don’t have time to post the complete story but I’m sure you’ll have no problems finding more info on this.

Was just a matter of time, unfortunately. A lot of cat species, including a large amount of domestic cats, have a harmless form of corona virus in them. So of course they react to a mutation sooner or later.

However, lets remind ourselves that for most health individuals it's just a cough and they will be healthy again.Of course we need to stay home and protect ourselfs, but we needto stay calm nevertheless.
I will be even more carefulnow, though.I have asthma, but one of my cats has it as well, so it's better if we don't catch it. ;)

Stay safe, and protect yourselves. Better safe than sorry. (y)
If you have asthma, you have a higher risk than others.

Even healthy people die of this terrible disease, and people should stop calling it "just a flu". Because it's not. And being ignorant isn't helping bringing this to a end either. ( I don't mean you of course)

So glad the infected animals will most likely recover (as the linked article states). I'm a bit worried about our pet cats as well. Besides all the other precautions, we always wash our hands after being outside before we interact with them.
It is so individual and unpredictable how serious the infection is going for each and everyone, so better not take any risks, I fully agree with @Luuknoord.

Stay safe - you, your pets and the animals in the zoos.

That's very interesting that cats can be affected by human coronaviruses. Was it confirmed that the tiger has it, or was simply carrying it? I saw this article and assumed she tested positive the same way that dogs have - a virus was surviving in the nasal cavity but had not infected the animal. Hope the tiger is ok, and that staff at Bronx zoo are not infected too.

She coughed, so the virus actually effects her, unfortunately.
