Mamba vs Phantom comparison

Phantom

Mamba

Quick summary:
mambaphantom
boost591570
MJ27322440
Armor1566461
DPS668810
Agility33
Jump1727
Rebuy4.8m7.2m

The phantom is more agile than the mamba (not reflected in the 3 score), but I dont know if that's enough to overcome its other shortcomings in combat. I would rather have the Mamba, probably just my piloting skill level and style preference.

I've done a fair bit of (pve) combat in both, and I agree the Phantom handles better, also runs fewer weapons with a bigger PD. I enjoy both, but am more often in the Phantom, room for collection limpets to farm mats in RES, and it's just easier I suppose.

Taking my laziness out of the equation, I do think the Mamba is superior for combat.

The phantom has the bonus of "endless boost" and lazy pip management. There should be a category for that.

was this thread asking for something or just comparing them?

edit: also I hope the mamba is better at combat but I have no idea, simply because the phantom is much, much more versatile

LW alloys?!
Really?
W/ Prismatics?
And mostly SRPs?
What's with those builds?

These aren't the builds you are looking for. Move along, move along...

Well, if you're trying to stack it in the Mamba's favor somehow, don't let me get in your way!

Making the Phantom a more conventional hybrid closes the defensive gap almost entirely, assuming you also upgrade the Mamba's bulkheads, otherwise the Phantom pulls ahead.

Astute observation. I dont want the conventional hybrid. I already have some of those.

Is the 4A SCB in the c5 slot on purpose too?
You just don't want those extra MJs?

Seems like a hodgepodge.
Not sure what you're going for is all.

That's a good call out, I just build this yesterday and need some more testing. If hot banking proves the 4A too hot I may have to downgrade it to 3A or put another SRP there. Thanks.

Really? Without heatsinks and take no heat dmg?

Mine will go a little over 100% but not much.
I use a 6a bank and 5A prism on my multirole MKII.
I assume the Phantom will handle the heat at least as well.

I'd go for the Specialized mod before I'd downgrade the size.
Those things run cool to begin with

And ftr, I'm not trying to just give you a hard time.
You seem like a smart builder so if you're doing something unorthodox, I just want to know why.

;)

Understood. I already have a couple of shield tanks but they feel the same, i.e. the Mamba. I want a shield tank that is more maneuverable than the mamba and different than the FDL. I need to practice my evasion skills. I'm trying to turn this phantom into a big Vulture with more guns and shields, maybe that's a mistake. But I enjoy the building, trial and error part of the game.
