Man I like my new vette and all but damn, the things I hate about it...

I play exclusively in vr and after getting wowed by that clean as hell cockpit I instantly noticed the idiotically low ceiling and garbage canopy. I feel so cramped by it.

Maybe I've been spoiled by all the ships leading up to it, especially my krait but man, not a fan of the cockpit location, not being able to see or guess where anything is below me is a pain. Fun ship though, even though that giant flat plane with nothing on it leading to the nose annoys me. le

That is the SRV launch road...
The nicest thing in VR about the Corvette is that the 'drop' from the bridge makes itself obvious, in flat screen it is much less obvious.

It’s a warship. It makes sense for it to have a small profile canopy as that is a point of vulnerability, especially in space.

What’s much more surprising is that in the year 3307 we are relying so much on visual identification, especially in space. The ship should be 100% functional with no outside visibility whatsoever.

I like ships where I can see the nose. It gives a sense of scale and reminds you that you're flying something of substance.

Having said that I want a Corvette so I can wade in somewhere and lay a beatdown on anything moving. Not for the ambiance and decor.....

This is part of what imparts so much character to the ships of ED. @Vahnkiljoy, the Corvette itself covering half your screen from the cockpit is why I fly the T10 for large ship combat fun. It's why I prefer the Chieftain to the FDL and it's abomination of a cockpit. The design of the Corvette was clearly centered around making sure you feel the ship's size. Hence half the screen covered and huge hardpoints firing from your forehead. Matter of taste.

Do lasers (when fitted to the C4 hardpoints) still clip through the cockpit of the Corvette?

I imagine that could be pretty freaky in VR! o_O

If you don't do open pvp. You will walk like a god of war thru npc's. I finally broke down and built one, it mostly collects dust. I only use it for hi intensity cz's.
Spec ops don't have a prayer. Mine is a pretty weak build compared to what most will load it out.

The only thing I really hate, and can't get over myself, is its loooong nose. Particularly, how UI is "clipping" through it, which is understandable from convenience perspective, but still is quite ugly... Wish cockpit was around the nose itself, but pretty sure they wanted for players too feel how massive it is, and maybe it helps with distance judging? No idea, really... Other than that, Feds have very cool, both interior and exterior design. Ship is extremely agile for the size, looks marvelous from the outside view.

Yeah that nose is...something else, early on in flying it and going for a dock I kinda flipped a Dolphin around because I was coming from below but there is literally no way to judge distance even in vr, all I see is that damn nose but nothing to really give me point of reference.

Sheesh thanks for this thread, it just made me check out the cockpit and now I can tell I don't want one even as a flat screen player. :p
I already hate the view from the Anaconda but this is even worse. 😰

So I guess the Clipper will remain the only Large ship in my fleet. 😄

Naah, long nose ships are fine. That's the main reason I use my Corvette at all. And Anaconda, since those are the only ships that give that "being big" feeling while flying when your front hull covers half the view. Sure, Courier and FDL can somewhat do that as well (view cover that is) but you don't get that being massive vibe.

I wish we had more ships with such design. I'm kinda fed up with "just windscreen" view.

I'm in vr and use my vette alot in pve related stuff. It's a time saving ship. Can do stuff alot quicker than anything else. Threat 6 pirate is easily solo with a vette. I doubt any other ship could survive against the fdl and 3 vultures.
I've no clipping errors wotsoever.
Biweaves fast charge with scbs x2 size 7 g4 ensures shields throughout the encounter..and once their charged again your good for another threat 6. How many ships can do 2 or even 3 threat 6 pirate assassinations back to back (prismatics req)?
The canopy isn't an issue in vr. I track with their exhaust or use turreted beams size 1 to show you where they are.
As for czs yes once again it's the goto ship.
Gripes....none.
I've 11 fully engineered ships on my carrier this is the most used.
Until pvp....then I use the others.
