Horizons Man, Irony is not lost in this game .. I wonder if it mocks me on purpose (long)

Sometimes I wonder if this game has a mean streak that likes to mess with my mind.

As I had a high rep in my station, I started finding these boom delivery missions that would pay 1 or 2 mill to ship stuff to systems 70 or 80 light years. I did these for a few weeks and Just last week I finally bought myself an Anaconda.
WooHoo a super mining barge :D. Yup I like mining. Yeah I know, but hey it works for me.

I am bringing any home and docking her in the station carefully, then as I come through the slot, my rift goes black I hear the dreaded device disconnect sound from the OS. Nooo I am through the slot!!!! I take off the headset and see a message from the oculus software that the HDMI is not found... NOOOO I AM IN THE SLOT!!!! I notice that the screen preview windows is still showing what I would normally see through the head set, so I place the headset on the desk to get the forward view and land her safely. Phew!.

A quick reboot and making sure all the cables are firmly plugged in and now its time to fit docking module just in case and go make some money for the addons and to make sure I am always well covered for insurance. So I go back to my station to get more of those missions......Umm OK, No outfitting, no missions... what the? Man the STATION IS IN LOCK DOWN.

OK I head off to another system for the outfitting and I might as well use Annie for what I do best.... Mining. I will sell the ore in the next system, they pay heaps for Painite.

Annie is a fine mining vessel that has plenty of cargo space, plenty of room for collector drones, more collector drones and even more collector drones. Enough gun slots to protect yourself a little, and plenty of speed... um OK well scratch that last comment [where is it]

So I head out to my favourite Pristine mining place start blasting a roid and fire off 11 collectors to make light work of the frag collecting. After the first round trip to get the frags, some of collectors just decide to hang around the cargo hatch with their ore in tow and never deposit it, while the remaining compliment of drones have to do all the work. It is not until the other hard working drones have collected all of the ore frags and I am flying away, that the lazy drones finally decide to drop off the one piece of ore they each collected.... damn slacker drones)

Anyway... I am searching and searching for painite or platinum. 10 prospectors, 20 prospectors, 50 prospectors later? Nothing... not a nibble. Finding plenty of the lower value stuff like osmium and the new ones I cant pronounce. I find a little painite, and finally go back to base in the next system with about 7 painite and a heap of junky stuff and sell it off. Not my usual great haul. I quit for something to eat.

An hour later I log back in after having something to eat, and check and there are several very high paying missions for osmium. Yeah Baby! I am talking 3 mill worth of missions for a total of 33 osmium in total. Man this is Awesome!!! That's like 10 minutes work.

I load up on collectors (telling the vendor I don't want any of those slacker drones that wont deposit ore, but apparently he sneaks some in anyway, I find out later)
I head out to the same pristine rings as before and no osmium to be found.... 10 prospectors, 20 prospectors ....(oh come on, really?) Instead now I am finding palladium palladium and more palladium, and those other materials I cant pronounce. Not to worry, I have found some Painite and it is super high priced at the moment in my area, I will still make a pretty penny.

Eventually after almost running out of prospector drones, I find two rocks right next to each other, both with very high percentage osmium and get enough +1 to fill out my contracts.

Now I am heading home and an some angry anaconda that I must have upset in a past life is determine to get me and interdicts me twice before I can make it to the station. The second time was my fault as I got distracted looking around my massive cockpit in VR and I overshot the station. I swear during the second interdiction, but escape unharmed and make it back to base.

I cash in the osmium contracts for the 3 mill or there abouts and then go to sell the Painite. The price has dropped from 70k per ton to 40k per ton. Typical.

I still made more than 6 mill for the night but man talk about highs and lows.

Gotta love it.
