man that was tough

toughest ELITE I've faced yet, first bit I don't understand!
got a message saying high value target acquired. only thing on me is a 31000cr galaxy wide bounty on me. I wouldn't say that is a high value. scanned him he was clean, damn.
we both dropped out and I scanned, waited for him to open fire. now wanted I can take him. I opened fire with my dazzle/PA, took his shield down with a volley from my twin multi cannons both with added extra's. took his hull down to 2% before his shields came back online. he then proceeded to ram me. 3 rams my shields went offline, 4 more my hulls down to 40%. then his ship decided to die . damn it was a tough one. me like :) killed himself ramming my ship:D

How on earth did you manage to get rammed at least 7 times?
What were you flying, a T9?

Avoiding ramming is easy even from something as manoeuvrable as an FAS in an Anaconda.
Use your thrusters to stay off their flight path whilst you keep the nose and your lasers pointed at them and keep zapping.
There's no way you should be losing your ship from ramming unless you're already critically damaged from weapon fire and they get a lucky hit.

I actually had to run away from a Dangerous FDL NPC today. Didn't help that it had dual rails, which are frighteningly effective, and I was trying out different joystick profiles at the time.

Still...I'm somewhat ashamed of myself. Got my backside kicked in a few PvP battles in Arque too.

I think I've lost my combat chops :(

It's a characteristic of the FAS AI. They love to ram, and they should: it's the perfect ship for it.

The more I play, the more I notice the different little ticks each AI has. For instance, high rated Vultures love to get extremely close to you and try to fly out of your view. Really effective if you never reverse thrust, I imagine!

because I wasn't moving. was pummelling him while he was doing it. I was only moving to face him

Aye, gotcha.
But there's the problem. Keep moving. If you stay still you're a sitting duck. Keep moving and you'll find there are fewer rebuys.
Thrusters are the thing.

There is an issue with ramming. It seems to be a standard NPC tactic that requires addressing.
I don't know what the latest view from FD is on the matter.
