Management Matters

Lastly, even something like closing times could be affected.
For example, in a small town, people won't like a late closing time for noise reasons (even light pollution etc). The same may go for wealthy areas where they are a little more fussy.
This actually happened here in Sydney. New, expensive apartments are built right next to our Luna Park and the residents began to complain of the noise from its famous roller coaster, even during the day, and even though the roller coaster existed before these apartments were built. In the end, the roller coaster was removed. $ talks, very sad.

Anyway, sorry for the long post.
Discuss.

Slightly off topic but I hate it when things happen like that. It's the same when people move next too pubs in towns and similar. They know they were there and that it often has music and people who are loud and then complain to the council. If you don't like that atmosphere and you choose to put yourself there, either deal with it or get out of that situation by removing yourself. [mad]

Well Matty, you make some good points there. I would have liked to have seen a little bit of logisitics surrounding entry into the park that way, that would have been pretty cool.

However im not sure that implementing something like townsfolk whining about the park would be something that would go hand in hand with the spirit of this game. To have those kind of limits i think would stymie people's creativity, sonce building big extravagant coasters would be out of the question. Not fun (imo!)

Also i have to add: as soon as i saw that you live in Australia, I reread your post in Steve Irwin's voice - I've got to say it was pretty funny :)

I would suggest at least for a scenario that it may work where you have to build to suit your environment but it would become tiresome and troublesome for every one.

Yeah limits like noise, space, reputation and money are all suitable for career/scenario mode, not sandbox (creative mode).

I hope I am not interrupting any discussion buuuut I thought this thread was were my question belongs [happy]

Didn't Bo mention the "Take it from the Top" Dev Diary #6?

I mean, sure they have mentioned and explained most of what I had expected for the Dev Diary to come. But I am still really curious and since Dev Diary #5 was posted just over one week ago I was thinking today might be a great day to celebrate the weekend with a new video! [yesnod]

So, just to maybe steer the Hype Train a little into that direction...

They normally do them on Friday so assume yes today would have a short video with the next info/dev diary stuff

We can all want more from a game than what we end up actually getting. You basically missed the entire point I was trying to make.

Having unrealistic expectations is only going to end in one thing .. disappointment.

Why would I or anyone else expect Frontier to make PC anything different from RCT3. Of course some people want more management aspects. Some might want less as well, the point being that PC looks to be hitting the sweet spot in general, not just for me, in general.

So basically you are criticising me for suppressing other poeples opinions when your basically doing the same thing.

In my opinion if people are expecting some sort of complicated management in PC then they have come to the wrong place. There is nothing wrong with that opinion, it's called being realistic. Don't take things so personally.

Taking a page from your quote I'll say that I think you've missed the entire point I was trying to make. I won't argue that having unrealistic expectations more often ends up in disappointment. Much like wishing for a super mega awesome toy from Santa and then waking up Christmas morning and said toy not being there. But I think where you are missing the point is how, what has been discussed in this thread, considered to be "unrealistic expectations". Are there some ideas that lean on the unrealistic side of what we should expect? I'll concede that. But last I checked we weren't the Developers and I'm sure one of them has been reading this thread (considering we are at 20 plus pages already). So unrealistic or not...what's the harm in expressing those ideas??? There's a Southern expression that says "The squeaky wheel gets the most oil". So those who are expressing their views, opinions are making their squeaks get heard. Frontier has the oil can and it's up to them to decide where to put the oil.

As for criticizing you for suppressing your opinion I merely gave you my opinion as you gave yours. Where I totally disagree with you is that your opinion is people expecting a complicated management in PC have come to the wrong place and that's "realistic". It's not personal. I respect your opinion. I just disagree with it...

Don't think I ever said people couldn't come up with ideas that might make the game better. Did I? Thats not what I said in anyway shape or form. Stop twisting my words.

In the end I see it like this , Frontier has seen what worked in RCT and are replicating that in PC. My original response was to the question of whether the management will have enough depth for some people. My response to that was this isn't what Frontier are aiming for with PC.

It's like the ED forums where you have people who the game to be like EVE. If you want that sort of game then play that sort of game. ED isn't supposed to be that sort of game.

Why is it such a major crime to tell people that a particular game probably isn't for them if doesnt have features they want? There is nothing wrong with saying that. Thats not suppressing other peoples opinions. Thats just being realistic.

Because you are dismissing the point that you could say the same for the creative side of the game the same as the management. It is just a statement that doesn't make sense or logical point of view. There are things that clearly you are not understanding with this principle that everyone else has now moved on from and want to talk about management.

If you feel otherwise please post in off-topic about it or similar as this is the "Management Matters" Thread. Thank you.

Like Curlyriff said, please keep the discussion in this thread about management in Planet Coaster.

If you want to discuss other things, or want to suggest features for Planet Coaster, then please continue discussion about that in another existing thread or create a new thread in the appropriate subforums.

Thank you and have a great weekend! [happy]

From the latest screenshot it appears that setting prices for shop items as well as condiment selection is available.

Aye that looks good, there are some thoughts on how to advance that to give it more of a feeling of it being somewhere that really serves food and how to split things up so that it adds a little more depth without becoming unruly or confusing for the casual.

Also some ideas for the popcorn, candyfloss stands & the energy drink side to be a little different or even further options to add some different gameplay and visual creation also.

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but does anybody know who finished off the Western park I made at 2:36 in the video? I spent a good 10 hours creating that green coaster, and buildings alongside it, and I want to know who finished my hard work :(

So Dev Diary #6 confirms that the 'simulation evolved' refers only to the guests brains and interaction with the park around them.
