Looks like that billion in salary didn't help against Norwich. :)

When it comes to capitalism, I must say it isn't doing terribly well. It is however doing better than the other stuff we have tried. All the least failed countries in the world, have some form of capitalistic economy.
Countries that run a regulated market economy seem to about do as well as those that go all inn. In some cases better. What is lost in market dynamics may be gained in lower crime rates and higher risk willingness, due to a social safety net.

Over-regulating has historically lead to corruption. Under regulating has practically the same effect, as it leads to monopolies and cartels. These are private versions of corrupt sosialist governments. They remove the competitive aspect of capitalism. Without it, the machine stops working.

There is little doubt that there are people and corporations in the world that has enough economic power to avoid healthy competition. This cements present inequalities and slows down our collective development.

Even capitalism at it's best, is a horrible waste of resources. Parallel development costing massive amounts, is a cornerstone of the system. The resource waste is enormous.
So far it seem to be the only way us simple humans get anything done, without being forced.

Lets hope we evolve over time. 🥴

we don't "need" recompense for services rendered Jason.....People who volunteer don't need recompense.

"There will always be rich, poor and people in the middle" That statement is the true evil Jason.
There will always be some system of commerce to measure and reward labor and ingenuity. There has to be because there's no alternative. Bob and Joe will always have have to work to provide for their needs. The true evil is when Bob is forced to work twice as hard because Joe refuses to work and Bob is required to carry his load on top of his own.

I'm getting the impression you're not a Bob kinda guy.

Sorry Jason but that's the thought process I feel mankind needs to get away from, it's a self fulfilling sort of thing. I don't believe that if we take away money everyone will just sit on their butts and do nothing. It may be naive but I feel people will be happy to work and do good, if they have no "need" for monetary (or otherwise) recompense.

Bob and Joe still live in your world (which is now) not the world I'm talking about (the future), in my world Bob and Joe will not NEED anything.

Your being the pragmatic realist within the current systems, I'm talking about an idealistic future utopia of what man "should" do for everyone to be equal. Until man does that there will never ever be true equality and conflict will always be around the corner.

Yes I'm Bob, but I have a mental disablity that effects my capacity to work (worked for a decade or so and a a few mental breakdowns from stress..i can't handle people, which kind of restricts what I can do!) and I care for my autistic wife at the fraction of the cost it would be for the NHS to care for her.

Man, I have given you so many opportunities to gracefully back away from this, an issue that you are clearly delusional on, but now I'm going to give it to you bluntly.

Assuming I'm reading you correctly and that you no longer work: Your idea about what mankind should shift to only exists in various after life religious beliefs. In the meantime, in the very real world someone else, me for instance, actually does have to work to not only take care of my own life obligations but you and your wife's as well. Since you can't work and neither can your wife yet you both still hoover up resources that people such as myself actually DO have to work to provide, I think if I were you I'd just pipe down and leave well enough alone. Be grateful for what you're being given on the backs of people who are literally forced to work on your behalf and drop the nonsensical stuff. The fact that I have to feed you is bad enough without hearing complaints on top of you doing what amounts to stealing time off of my life span.

Oi LESS of the attitude, leave it at the door right now. You pay NOTHING for me I'm BRITISH thank GOD. And let me ask you something what would YOU do for those too ill to work, let us starve to death?

I worked when I could until severe mental health breakdowns, paid my dues. My wife cannot and will never be able to work. Jesus wept I thought we were getting along but Hitler would be proud of you. Go build some gas chambers for all the ill eh, get us out of the way so you can save some tax dollars. Don't bother replying you're on ignore.

So much for gratitude. I may not come from Britain, but a great deal of my entire lifes work goes into taking care of people who can't or won't take care of themselves, so the point remains: people must work to take care of those who won't or can't work. You worked for a paltry ten years, but you'll require someone else to work on your behalf for as long as you live.

Pointing that out doesn't make me Hitler, it just makes me tactless, because how dare I point out reality to you. Honestly, I don't care whether you except help gratefully or not. The welfare class isn't going to let having their feelings hurt change anything.

Sadly as Godwin's law has been invoked I'd say it's probably best to end it here.
