Manufacturing Instructions

I realise this may well be just me and the RNG having a row again but...

... is anyone else noticing a vertitable dearth dearth of these lately? From both data ports and missions?

They can be found in IND/Extraction settlements data ports
And in dataports on crashed satellites and skimmers.

Small winged type:
  • Micro Supercapacitor
  • Electromagnet
  • Encrypted Memory Chip
  • Memory Chip

Large spherical:
  • Circuit Board
  • Micro Transformer

You can relog the hell out of it in any of the salvage POIs as long you dont pick the mission objective

Then, get allied to the factions in the system you settled (preferable one that has a lot of IND/EXT settlements) and check the boards and the NPC
In one evening i got the opportunity to get 25 MI - well, actually i only got 20 cause i blew one mission - 5 negotiated to 10MI from mission giver, and 3x 5 MI from the board.
As i said i got meself killed during one of the missions - a salvage one, the classic mistake, forgot to raise shields and a sniper got me.
But i still got 10+5+5 from the other 3 missions i successfully did.

I found 2 last night in a single data port in a scavenging mission. This was then added to the 5 I had as a mission reward for stealing a power regulator, so these are ticking along nicely for me. That's not to say I don't get the occasion bad RNG days with data.

You beat me to it, although yours is better. If you pull up close enough to the crash site in your SRV you can see in the "contacts" whether the Power Regulator is a good one or a dud. The power regulator is in the big satellite, not the little one with the wings..

If the power regulator is a dud (and probably is, but I've gotten a few from these crash sites, worth a look) you don't even have to cut the panel open to look, do the data port, back away in case bad guys spawn, relog.

Tip: don't spam the same board or mission givers at the same station.

Instead (if your system has enough), do a round trip locally in an Apex taxi. Go from one station to the next in the taxi and check the boards and mission givers in each. Also include the large planetary settlements. Obviously, try and keep within 1000Ls. The final trip is back to the station where your ship is.

For n stations to visit you'll have n+1 visits to the boards/givers because the last one will (probably) have refreshed when you return.

I do this in a system with 3 orbitals and 1 large settlement. By the time I return to where my ship is I've had 5 rolls of the dice. I'm after MIs and Reactor Output Reviews (ROR) at the moment; over two evenings I got 28 MIs and today in one trip have already accepted missions for 9 RORs, plus any MI and ROR items I find in the evacuated settlements I'll be restoring.

Always ask for more from the mission givers - it helps if you're allied, allegedly.

It will always be RNG but I find that's the best method.

It's a great way to drop by the equipment shops, too. I picked up a G3 Maverick with Night Vision yesterday!

I spam the infrastructure failures or civil unrest with either military or high tech preference. High population and high security. Does narrow it down a bit hehehe

Yes, salvage missions are best source of get those MI, long as there is "impact site" type of POI, while also "pick up contraband" missions are similarly very good source to get Wep schematics when you get double or triple containers "smuggler" POI mission location.

Funny enough, with these missions, it seems there is constant chance to have instance without mission object spawned, while on first arrival to mission POI. So if that happen, next or two instances later will spawn with it.

Dont pick up mission item, loot anything else, once done, goto supercurz and come back, all things will be reset (or just menu relog if lazy, works as well), so it can repeated long as mission timer allows. Preety much any single right missions like that can be used to obtain enough wep schematics or MI, to have enough materials that one ever needed at moment.

So yep, if anyone would ever wonder why some carriers seems to have lots of MI to sell ("where from they get it?"), thats how they get it, no other method in game is as fast to get loads of it.

Funny enough, those who are unware of this trick, if they would knew about it, surely never complain on these forums about ody materials are "hard" to get by. Given of complains that appears in quite regular intervals, seems that trick is not as widely known about, while preety much anyone who knows whats is Dav's hope and how use it, should figure it out, since its same mechanics... well almost.

It all sucks until your suits and weapons are all grade 5, then you understand why you went through the hell of gathering the MATs to fully upgrade in the first place.

If there's any plans to upgrade your gear now or in the future the best thing to do is collect MATs all the time when you are going about your business. I waited on one account to upgrade suits and weapons until I finished other goals, but was aware of the grind for Opinion Polls so always looked in Data Ports whether I had to or not and snatched them up whenever I saw them (along with others for sure), so only had to grind 5 OPs instead of ten when it was time to start that grind.

I'm no different than anyone else; RNG loves me for a little while, then hates me for quite a while. Unfortunately I usually decide to do upgrades when RNG has left me cold..

If you are heavy in to on-foot stuff, it's worth it.

I love the on-foot game.

I have three suits, one of each type, all at G5 and fully modded. I have 10 (different) weapons, again, all G5 and fully modded. I do loads of power-ons and filch everything not nailed down. The thing is, I'm finding MI's (and a couple of other data mats) are a bit thin on the ground lately.

It may be just me, rushing to get the lewtz...

Yea, while equipping my migrated XB account i rarely found the mission objective in salvage missions at first attempt
Most of the times it happened at the 3rd attempt.
And this was valid for missions to Irregular Markers, Crash Sites, Minor Wreckage, Distress Beacons and also to missions to collect items from shut down or live settlements - basically all missions that had the mission objective spawning in a container or in a locker.

Cannot say i really disliked that, but it could be annoying at times - especially when i was on a tight schedule and i didnt have the time for yet another relog

Nah.
Doing the initial missions in a store bought G3 suit and weapons and having to deal with a shutdown pitch black settlement (especially when you arrive in an Apex and cannot ID the layout from air using ship's Nightvision) - well, it has its share of thrills and charms.
Having to deal with 12-18 Scav in an yet-to-be-recognized settlement layout, in pitch black, with no night vision, certainly raises the adrenalin levels.

However, that doesnt mean i didnt get NightVision on my suits as soon as i was able to... 😂

Funny you should say that - and completely OT - I had to deal with 30 the other day. 22 were already at the settlement. No, I didn't go all on foot to do it :D Good job I took my missile barge with me.

Never seen anything like it before or since.

IIRC most i got were 22-24.
All of them dealt with on-foot cause most of the time i use an Apex and when i'm using my ship i'm too lazy to use the SRV, even tho my EDO runner is having a size4 srv hangar with a Scarab and a Scorp 😂 🤷‍♂️
