Map size confirmed

If you ask for my opinion, it's pretty big. I've never actually been able to fill up an entire Planet Coaster park. Is that for each island or for all the islands put together?

Whoops, just realized you said it was for one island, nevermind my question! Yeah, considering that's only one island, sounds like there will be plenty of room :)

That's really promising although I'm worried if my PS4 Pro is going to die trying to manage a full scale park.

JPOG had limitations cause of consoles. You were only allowed a certain number of Dinosaurs, number of fences, number of attractions and so on. It kept the game from overwhelming the console.

This game might be the same, maybe. Hopefully this doesn't effect the PC version.

I am glad to hear this cause after seeing the gameplay reveal I was starting to think we would be limited to a very small area.

Hmm the same size as the largest planet coaster map...

Uh... Yeah that's pretty ' big, or so ~I~ think.

I mean most people running low specs probably won't even be able to load all that I'd wager... It's really quite a bit of space.

Certainly pleased to hear this is the case! [heart]

Thats one of many reasons i dont like the plattform "console" ( YES I HAD ONE...LONG TIME AGO! ). They always bring limits to people with pc who shouldn´t be punished for the poor performance of other plattforms!
If u buy a console u should get limitations - hardware based. BUT pc users should not be punished for this. The reason is that console gamers start to cry when they see the difference between console and pc gamequality; when there are no limitations.

I'm a ps4 gamer, but I'm never worried about limitations or difference in quality. It still looks good to me, so I don't care that pc can have better quality :)

That's not the case anymore with the ps4/xbox one gen. They lack keyboard and mouse but are more powerful than low-end PCs.

Older consoles were imposing limitations because not only were they very far behind the PCs performance wise, but they were build very different from PCs.

No longer the case now.

Even lack of kb&m is inexcusable at this point. The consoles support it, it's dependent on the developer. If people can play Fortnite on PS4 with kb&m, then I think there should be support for it as well with Evolution. Your average keyboard and mouse combo is not that expensive. Only if you're looking to get something nice would it be, unlike console controllers.

Back to the point though, I think the consoles are powerful enough to handle JWE. The power between a PS3 and PS2 was a huge leap, and PS4s are even more powerful. I don't think we'll see such limits, and if there are limits, it'll be high enough to the point where it won't greatly affect gameplay.

Actually 800,000 square meters is actually quite small - for a dinosaur theme park.

Keep in mind that according to various JP/JW related websites - Isla Sorna is suppose to be about 2.5 times larger than Isla Nublar(which is stated to be about 57 square km/22 square miles). So Isla Sorna should be about 142 square km/55 square miles. And there are about 1,000,000 square meters in 1 square kilometer, or about 2,588,000 square meters in 1 square mile.

If we were allowed to build on half of Isla Nublar - that is about 28.47 square km/11 square miles - or 28,470,000 square meters.

And if we could build on half of Isla Sorna - that would be about 71 square km/27.5 square miles - or 71,000,000 square meters.

Now those would be some good sized parks.

You know very well that would be impossible to run on a pc let alone on a console.
The map size from planet coaster is pretty big and more than capable to build a large park.
If you could see how many large roller coasters you can plot down in a map and still have room for a big main street with lot's of shops and all the other rides and still have room left to build a castle or two and a large park.

Yes I realize that a park that is 28.47 km2/ 11 miles2 would be impossible for most PCs or consoles to handle. I was using those figures to illustrate the actual size of the parks in the movie series.

And yes - 800,000 square meters - is still larger than most normal sized Zoos (almost 200 acres). So it not really that small.

But is still when you consider that the largest Safari/Animal Parks - like Animal Kingdom in Disney World, or the San Diego Zoo Safari Park - which tend to range between 2.3 - 7.3 km2 (0.9-2.8 square miles) or about 580-1,800 acres.

I would at least hope that in your largest park, you could have 2 or 3 very large exhibits for the herding dinosaurs. Much like we saw in Jurassic World.

You do know that this game was designed for all 3 platforms, no need to share your elitism with everyone. PC gaming does have limitations as well, just a lot higher ones. The only thing that is being compromised is the fact that the terrain tools are a bit more simpler and the fact that yes there might be less buildings, but this isn't Planet Coaster you have no need to place every wall of a building. You are here to build dinosaurs.

I hear you. I think the biggest park I had was about 1/4 of the map [big grin]

But I have a feeling that this won't be the same in JWE. I'm probably gonna try to make a very big park. I mean, I played Planet Coaster. But it's not like I'm a huge fan or anything.
