I am just in awe at the rift support in this game, but who isn't? I'm not going to regurgitate the details of why, just trust me, LOVE IT. So this isn't an ungrateful complaint but suggestions/bugs. They are all are to do with the maps.
1. The System map is very hard to read in the rift. All other screens are ok to read, you might have to lean a little closer, but Info panel on the system map is just difficult, it's SO far away that you practically have to get off your chair. What's more it actually disappears if you happen to lean out of the range of the detector. This is a bit of a bummer as it really puts me off going to the system map in the first place, which is kinda the most important map for an explorer like me.
One suggestion to fix this might be to add the ability to just zoom at the click of a button. This would be VERY useful for Rift users in hundreds of ways. Maybe this is already possible. A hotkey to change FOV? Anyone know how to do it during Rift mode?
2. On the Galaxy map, specifically the little button panel that pops up when you highlight a system, there are issues. The first and foremost is the fact that it doesn't interact with the Xbox controller (and at least some other controllers from what I've seen in the forum). It only works with the mouse. So to plot a route or bring up the system overview of a star, you need to use the mouse. You can highlight the buttons with the controller but clicking them with A or any other button (including keyboard) does nothing. This is very inconvenient as you can't actually see with the Rift on! You have to feel around for your mouse and chances are you are sitting well back from your desk to get in good view of the detector and avoid kicking it! I think even keyboard users would appreciate the ability to select these buttons without the mouse. I think this is a genuine bug that needs addressing asap for everyone.
3. Again, about that little button panel mentioned above, it seems to float around in the rift. It's location in your vision changes as you look around, seeming to move away from where you look. Not the end of the world but seeing as we have to go and click it with a mouse, chasing it around the screen makes that really difficult. Now, I do like a good point-and-click challenge from time to time, but not in a game that requires you to be doing that 10 times every 5 minutes...
