Maps are far too small

Made a complete park on Germany sandbox--the biggest map and still only manged to use half the species. I made sizeable enclosures because small ones suck and look really bad and the dinosaurs have more needs this time--especially with multi-species exhibits. But still, they really need to be much bigger. I want to create a park with every dinosaur. Not have to pick and choose because there isn't room

Totally agree, the much advertised and praised "bigger maps" are such a let down. They're still waaay too small to build a dream park with big enclosures that don't feel cramped and most of them are no bigger than the maps in the first game if not smaller. Really hope we get some more maps in the future that actually are much bigger and don't have weird borders and unbuildable hills in the middle. We just want a few large empty canvases we can form to our own imagination, is that really so much to ask for?

Totally agree. We asked for bigger maps for 3 years to get pretty much the same thing in JWE2. There must be someone very stubborn in Frontier creating maps. That map of Sonora canyons is a horror. Sorna is tiny.

I just don't get this. Never once have I felt in both of the games that any of the maps are too small. They feel plenty big to me.
I like creating large, multi-species enclosures of dinosaurs that lived together with the enclosures semi-connected, like this

With the fences hidden as much as possible with trenches and hills---it doesn't leave much room.

On my Germany park, I only had enough room to do Wessex Formation, Elhraz and Shaximiao before running out of space (No Hell Creek, No Dinosaur Park, No marine enclosures etc). And Germany is the biggest map.

Yeah they blatantly lied on this... the maps are smaller than in the first one nublar 93 from jwe 1 is still the biggest map frontier lied just like the dudes from no man sky but the difference is they listened to their fans and delievered afterwards...we are crying for bigger maps since the first one and frontier just doesnt give a crap about their fans...there is so much new stuff to build there is absolutly no space i really hate it

Maps large enough to create attractive parks: yes.

Maps large enough to accommodate many species: No.

I think this could sum it up.

I just finished NW USA Challenge Mode on Normal Difficulty and had room for three or four venues at the most. Yes, the maps are definitely too small for what they promised us.

I just created a marine park on Isla Nublar 2015-the second biggest map.

I still didn't have the room to add Plesiosaur.

Granted, there was a lot of empty space with the water. But still, they really need to be bigger.

Personally I feel the best challenge is making the best park you can with the space available. I would be down with one or two mega maps, but I have a lot more fun making themed parks on the smaller maps.

I agree and it's one of the biggest disappointments I have with the game. The JP Nublar map is small. I see in a recent patch they let us have access to that little side patch in the JP Chaos Theory scenario. I am about done with that scenario I believe. I managed to get some money so I am having a better time with that scenario. It's still a bit too frustrating for being rated 2/5 stars for difficulty and what is essentially a tutorial scenario.

The other map that's way too small is the Sorna Site B map. If you want to build a tropical facility you would probably be better off using the JP era Nublar map though as I said it's also way too small. I don't believe for a second that the maps are as big as Frontier claims they are. 30% percent bigger? Sure, whatever you say guys. lol

maybe like 10% bigger. Some of the maps might get a little bigger, but I doubt they ever get close to 30%.

There are mods for the game already. We just have to wait for a mod that gets rid of the map boundaries or lets us build outside the boundaries in sandbox and some kind of better terrain tools that will let us deal with some of the terrain issues. But console players will be stuck with the small maps for the game's lifespan. PC players can hopefully have this fixed with mods if Frontier doesn't make some larger maps. I was thinking they could do a DLC pack with larger maps so that we people can buy them if they want and the console players can buy them as long as they know it's going to cause performance issues. But that will never happen. The PC players will never get anything consoles can't handle.

I personally think it's because of all the new AI and animations pushing the APU's too much in newer consoles. That kind of stuff is CPU heavy and last time I checked the new consoles are still using APU's which have to handle graphics, AI animations and everything else.

The maps would only be small for technical reasons. Maybe gameplay could play a role but I would say the biggest reason would be technical.

This is something I find annoying. If modders can expand the map size, then why can't frontier just release a patch to do the same?

It can't be that difficult if a poindexter in his basement does it in his spare time.

I've had quite full maps and had zero lag or zero issues with my game (other than the spaghetti dino glitch that everybody gets with apatosaur). So I can't see how giving us an extra 20 percent map would have much of an effect.

Because the game is also on consoles. Yes they could probably do it no problem on the PC version, but that will leave out all the console players. Has to be the same for everybody. And I haven't had any problem with the sizes of the maps. There's really no need to cramp in all the species on one map. I don't see the point.

The point is easy dude its jurassic park/world not call of duty people want big maps myself included to make a cool park with as much dinos as possible i dont want to cramp my dinos in small ugly enclosures and thats a solid reason the maps are to small and thats a fact

It's not even a bigger map than I would like ... It's Isla Nublar as a whole ... Or some unknown islands, but in their entirety ...

I know it causes memory problems to generate maps of this size but maybe we could have a system of "zones" located on the same island or we can go whenever we want with a continuity of time ( if I am on a second area of my island, time continues to pass on the first area) which implies that things can happen, sick dinosaurs, escapes, etc ...
Of course we would have alerts as is already the case but when we go into the global map view of the island we see that it is an event in another area.

We could have a global map preview with the entire island (without too much detail) and an area map preview (which would look like the preview we currently have), much like we had on the first JWE on Muerta and Muerta East.

We wouldn't necessarily need to duplicate all buildings on the different zones (research center, reaction center, hotels, etc ...), so we could really use the zones for specific attractions.
With a menu we could bring the helicopter or jeeps from the first area as needed.

Transport for visitors and staff between the zones would of course be via the monorail. With stations already built like we had in the first game.

For those who know, the game Anno takes up this principle a little, we have a main play area with our starting islands and in the middle of the game we unlock another geographic area where we can build new facilities. The two work in parallel. I am thinking in particular of Anno 1800, where we can send our ships from one area to another (which takes a while). The operation could be the same… So even if we are on the same island we would not have to have to load the whole map.

I hope I haven't lost you ... 😁

I would like to see a massive custom map added to the game where you choose mountains, beaches, and what biome you want it to be then allow you to customize it to your hearts content like where to place hills, mountains, rivers, water falls and so on
