That's exacty what you do - you get the invitation mission when you hit allied with Sirius Corp.
Sirius corp are the controlling faction in several systems. You can give them around 6 mil worth of astronomical data or bounties, or you can run missions for them. If you do a road to riches run to Robigo, you get 6 mil of data to give them when you arrive and you can do the passenger missions when you get there to get loads of money too.
Try Procyon.
You'll need to fly a mission, similar to how you fly rank-up missions for superpower rank. Check stations controlled by Sirius Corp, and look for engineer mission. Fly it and you should be good. Due to how Elite works, you may need to re-log or visit different stations to get it to pop up on the mission board.

So a mission should pop up, as mentioned, now that you are allied. It may require a re-log or to visit a different station.
I think they will be in the chain-mission spot, but it's been a long time and things may have changed.
Have you ever ranked up in superpower rank? You have to look for , then complete, a rank-up mission. This thing for Marco works the same sort of way. Mel Brandon and Zach Nemo too I believe.

there were no follow up mission. only mining mission that were there from the start. i also went to all 3 stations in the system (they are all controlled by sirius corporation), and relogged a few times.
maybe i will fly directly to the sirius system and see if there is something.

It can be one of several roles. I usually seem to get courier missions, which is what I want. Lucky I guess. But yeah, it's usually a simple one-hop mission to complete the invitation.
I seem to recall my invite mission was obvious to spot from the wording and involved retrieving some cargo from a planets surface by driving through a trespass zone defended by skimmers to scoop the cargo on the way and get out the other side before they properly woke up and started shooting. I did all the reputation work from one of the adjacent Systems to Sirius.
I unlocked him yesterday.
a few things:
you cant just go to any system where sirius dorporation controls a station, went to 3 different systems and it hasnt worked. it has to be a station nearby sirius system.
when you are allied with sirius corporation you get your permit for sirius system. in sirius system you get the engineer mission.
