The game doesn’t have to be 100% realistic. Who wants to play a combat game where 1 bullet kills you instantly, and you don’t respawn?

And the simple solition: a disclaimer that marine animals don’t take well to captivity, among other information on how to help them in their information pages. Could even link a charity for marine conservation.

Oh, and not to mention, this is a game. We can make water tanks 20 times as big as what is possible in real life. So that’s more space to them.

I want to have killer whales and killer whale shows in the game, but without forcing Killer whales.

I know my views are extreme but marine life is currently facing a crisis.

We face a very real possibility of wiping out whales in our lifetimes.

Humanity needs to seriously cut back on its interactions with the sea. We're headed for disaster right now.

Let nature take over.

I apologize to all of you 🙏 We're all friends. I was a little rough. I'm aware of my mistake. Try to understand me. But I don't understand that. Why do we focus so much on killer whales? This is the game world. Here we can do 20 times better than real-life small pools. All I want is in this game. I wanted to do a natural killer whale pool and seldom wanted to do the show with orca. We had a great idea. If you have too many shows to killer whales, if you do not feed them, you do not show the required attention. a large amount of fines will be cut. Or the killer whales will be confiscated. In this way the game will encourage you to take care of killer whales. Isn't that a very good idea?

Right, I was just informed about this post, and I'm having a pretty stable day by my standards, so I've just read it.

You must understand that there are few things I care more about than animal welfare. Not only am I trained in animal husbandry IRL, but I'm pagan too, so my interest in the natural order is quite high. It's why I am a big supporter of wind power and the like. Oh we can have electricity. We just need to stop burning coal. Wind for the win. Tidal power too, to a degree.

Whales are really struggling right now. So many of the beasts are facing extinction that it's not even funny. And a lot of people in the wider world treat them as nothing more than a commodity to be spent.

While we build sanctuaries on land for our endangered land animals, which is the right thing to do, this is not how best to care for marine life. To save marine life, we need to outright get out of their environment, and it is theirs, not ours. We're land animals. The sea is not ours. We need to let nature recover, let the corals recover, let the whales breed without being hunted.

The only thing we should be doing in the sea right now is building coastal wind farms in suitable areas where turbines cause minimal disturbance, (the reduction in emissions makes the token disturbance a worthwhile price), and working to rid the oceans of all that plastic waste that currently floats around.

Now my opposition to captive whales in games. Media is a powerful thing. One of the most powerful forces of the 21st century. I've studied history and I know the power of the poster, radio and television. As funny as it is to make jokes about Trump, "Fake News" does highlight how susceptible many people are to media influence. (I know, politics, but in this case I feel it highlights a more important point)

We need to show that some things are just a bad idea. And as I said earlier today, sometimes, absence speaks louder than presence. I never want to see a whale in my life. I never have and I hope I never do. I don't go on boats anymore so I have no business seeing whales anywhere outside the nature documentaries. I just want to live knowing that humanity is making the passive effort needed to let whales recover from the damage they have suffered.

Part of this passive effort is leaving them the hell alone.

That's the best thing we can do for whales. Let them breed in peace, recover, and slowly reverse the damage themselves. I'm also convinced that whales are the most intelligent creatures in the sea: Plenty of evidence that they give each other unique names and a whole language amongst themselves. I honestly believe whales know the problems they face. I dare say they may have at least limited ability to reason.

If that's the case, we as a human species really need to give them some space. Hunting needs to stop yesterday, and let them recover. Otherwise we risk losing something incredibly valuable, and that loss may cause us as humans suffering in the long run.

So yes, I accept your apology. Just understand, animals are something I care a great deal about, and I think Planet Zoo has potential to raise awareness, but it needs to be done with care. That means some practices are best resigned to the history books.

I understand you :) I don't think anyone in the game would ever ask for captivity. I know that. Including me. But the existence of killer whales in the game does not mean captivity (in my opinion). Or does not mean that the planet zoo supports bondage... The word captivity does not even cross my mind. Believe me. I'll do my best to make them happy in the game. There are a lot of ideas like the idea I'm saying. Jonny Watts is gonna think about it, and I'm sure he'il do the best.

Well then, to put it simply: Having the game allow for unrealistic exhibits won't hurt wildlife. People who make a zoo in a video game won't be billionaires who will suddenly decide to fund an aquarium.

The only thing, and I mean, the literal only thing you should be blaming is industrialization. Us humans didn't do anything to the ocean. Greedy companies did. If we all decided to reduce our carbon footprint it would do nothing for saving the environment because it is the industries and corporations doing all the damage. So don't put the blame on people or a feature on a game.

If anything, kids playing a game and forming an emotional connection with these virtual whales would spark a love for marine wildlife. Even if it's inaccurate, they will want to help save the ocean. And their idea of saving the ocean won't be "I'm going to build a tank in my backyard and capture an Orca!". The kids would find charities or look up information on how to help them. The Developers would be helping ocean life, even if the methods in the game would be noneffective

And finally, it doesn't even have to be bad for the whales. A marine expansion could focus entirely on veterinarian rescue of saved animals, such as getting sent turtles that got stuck on plastic parts and healing them until they are ready to be released to the wild, or if that's not possible, give them a healthy life in captivity. It could be entirely about helping animals struggling with the damage caused to the ocean.
