Market Improvements

Hey guys! While the market is vastly improved since beta (thanks devs!) it still has issues that have only become apparent or exaggerated after launch.

Set a timer for resale on recently sold animals

Right now, even with animals sold from the 'Frontier Zoo', people can just buy them at their low price and sell them at inflated prices. I've noticed a lot of users on the forums upset that their nice deed of putting a gold medal animal on the market was undercut by it being bought and immediately relisted at an inflated price. A simple way to solve this would be a resale timer, so these people can't immediately relist these animals. They'll have to sacrifice valuable Trade Center slots in order to house these animals before selling them again. An hour or two should be fine.

OR restrict 'Frontier Zoo' animals from resale.

Simple. Restrict all Frontier Zoo animals from resale, not just the cash ones.

OR set a resale price cap

A resale price cap, such as the price bought at or below.

Private Trades

This could be an extra tab in the market, or a button that you click in your friend area on the globe. I'd like the ability to offer my friends special deals on animals before I list them on the main market.

HOWEVER, I don't want the main market gone and private trades to replace them. To prevent that, a restriction on the amount of private trades should suffice. Maybe only having one or two open at a time.

OR, add gifting instead. Giving away animals for no credits to close friends solves the issue of a private market taking over.

Ability to favorite or ignore zoos

I've seen this brought up quite a bit here too. I'd like the ability to favorite the zoos I like, maybe with the ability to offer private trades to them. If I buy a lion from a specific zoo, I may want to ignore that zoo for an hour or two while I look for a mate for that lion.

Display unusual coats in an animals portrait

I've never seen an albino animal in game myself, but I've heard that they can be hard to find because the animals portrait doesn't display their coloring. These animals should have a hidden value of some sort that displays a unique portrait of their gender in that color.

I have been informed that this already occurs. My mistake!

Save certain filter groups

I'd like to save filters, such as Female lion with certain stats, under a custom filter name. Sort of like building tags. Then I'd like to be able to select this filter to use it again. Currently, if I want to buy a gold medal lion of a certain gender, I may have to wait a few hours for one to show up in my price range. In that time, I'd like to be able to search for other animals, and save those filters for later.

Some sort of Conservation Credit sink, other than animals

Maybe an additional way to spend them, like marketing campaigns centered around reforestation or sponsoring animals.

If you guys can think of anything I've missed, go ahead and post it below.

I'd like to see a CC sink. Something that takes CC out of the economy about as fast as it goes in. Such as:
  • market cut
  • tax
  • penalties

I definitely like the private trade idea you have.

I personally would love to see some sort of auction instead of the current market system. Or not let us have set the asking price ourselves, just put them on the market for the value the game says is real. Maybe that would also give us more incentive to release animals into the wild, which I certainly won't do for a tenth of the CC I get on the market.

Totally agree.

Or maybe search for zoos by their name or their owner?
Another option for the "search for a mate" problem could be a warning message such as "this animal is related to one you already own" or something like that.

Display unusual coats in an animals portrait

I've never seen an albino animal in game myself, but I've heard that they can be hard to find because the animals portrait doesn't display their coloring. These animals should have a hidden value of some sort that displays a unique portrait of their gender in that color.
They're white, also on their in-market icon. Hard to believe that you have never seen one. I personally have bought four albino lions just to breed them, and all of their offspring have been white as well.

Save certain filter groups

Oh yes. We definitely need that. Especially since the trading history uses the same filter settings.

If you guys can think of anything I've missed, go ahead and post it below.
Speaking of the trading history, I'd like to see a proper one, which would let me sort them by sale date. I don't like seeing my CC changing and not knowing why that happens, so currently I fill out a separate Excel file on my notebook, which is kind of annoying.

agree to everything.
especialy the private trade, why not make an option to offer animals to only people on your friendslist for 1 hour, not sold - let it automaticly go to the open market for another hour.
and to all who now shout "this will destroy the market", well maybe it does now ?! I started to release more animals to the wild instead of listing them on the market, mostly the golden ones, I do not care for the CC anymore, it was not difficult to get some of that credits.
so my animals go to the wilderness instead to those players who relist them for 10 000cc, and I still earn good cc myself.

Set a timer for resale on recently sold animals
Agree, something needs to be done with fast reselling animals. A cooldown could work. I think reselling should just be penalized. If you resell an animal without putting it in your zoo, you can only list a 75-90% price of what you paid.. Offc. with a combination with the timer suggestion.

Private Trades
For some animals the market is already limited.. That's creating a new market within the market
A lot of animals would not be freely traded and only limited to people who are on discord etc..
Maybe 1 private trade per 12 hours or something?

Ability to favorite or ignore zoos
I'd very much like that.

Display unusual coats in an animals portrait
Albino already shows up. Unusual variants like albino/leucistic, yes (when/if more are implemented) but different coats ? That's a lot to ask from devs.

Save certain filter groups
While i agree with this one, i don't think it's a big deal to set filters properly.. When the market buttons aren't laggy, it doesn't bother me much.

I still have an issue with private trades, it risks the forming of cliques and new players not getting access. I don't have many friends interested in gaming and none that play planet zoo. I don't want to have to join a discord server or other private comms to have access to decent animals and i don't want the open market for new players to become empty. I don't think it's necessary and in the long term I think the mode would suffer. I could probably go with something more like a gifting system, that way you can thank players, help your friends etc. but you wouldn't get c.c. so it couldn't be your main way of trading.

Maybe a little script that you can only resell an animal for less than you paid for in the first place.

I like private trading. Frontier puts animal on the market too. If your fellow gamers don't want to sell to you, you can always get them from the Frontier zoo. But private trading will only work if used ingame with some sort of communication system in Planet zoo. A private messaging system or a chat.

  • reselling CC animals should be capped to the value, for which you bought the animal. Currently, the idea of the Frontier Zoo bot to provide a low market entry barrier is misused for rare species like Elephants, Rhinos, OrangUtans or very popular ones like the Giant Panda.
  • I don't believe private trading is a good idea. It would just lead to more mass breeding and groups of people fixing prices for specific species
  • There definitely should be filters for age and an option to show/hide albinos. Mass breeding (duping?) of Albinos, esp. for Challenge animals, is exhausting. I do not want to search for a Golden male within the bunch of Albino bears looking like a naked mole rat, raised in the region of Chernobyl (apologies to its designer)

I think the solution for the resells is to either cap the resell price at 90% of what it was bought for, or just make animals bought with CC only re-sellable for $.

The only thing that needs to b done is that frontier zoo animals shouldnt b resellable.
Even if i dont in the practice but where is the problem when player A sell an animal and player B buys and resell it? I mean i would guess that player A have sold the animal to a price where he is happy with while Player B think he can make little CC out of it his risk his profit. What is the issue?

And before everything they should focus on fix the TC anyway that click everything 100 times before something happen is absolute annoying;)

As the bot listings have got more frequent since Thursday (at least for some animals and some genders), which is in general a good and healthy thing, the following happened:
Players buying every appearing bot listing and reselling all of them (all listings in the screenshot with 500 onwards). As many bot listings had awful stats there was a flood of reselling listings.

Thanks for the feedback! I've updated my post to reflect the new ideas that have come out. I've also corrected the fact that you can actually see albino coloring in portraits.... whoops

On one hand I understand what you all mean when you say that private trading has the potential to be not healthy to the market because cliques would form and new players or less social players would have even less access to good animals. I totally believe that this would happen.
On the other hand though, I would love to trade animals with my friends. Maybe you could do it that you can gift an animal to a steam friend but not get any conservation credits in return. That would not be an issue for real friends playing together.

additional two things that I miss:
  • animal storage: there should be a filter for "Location" as well that you can see at a glance what animals are still listed
  • the (last) price you set when put on the market should be shown after that, even if the latest action ends without any buyer. Thus, one would be able to track price history.

  • animal storage: there should be a filter for "Location" as well that you can see at a glance what animals are still listed

By this, I assume you mean zoo location? I agree. Maybe a few quick filters, like 'age', 'location', or 'habitat' could be instated? Then again, that could make everything just a bit more cluttered.

In the giant UX/UI thread Bo stated that it was this way on purpose.

So add gifting instead of private trades? Hmm.... interesting idea. I'll add it to the top.

I meant that you can filter for "currently active auctions" in the location column
