MARKET, question 'bout Import/Export.... (broken?!)

Hello there :)

Maybe I STILL (after 60h+ of playing) don't understand the market, or it's broken..... I see IMERIAL SLAVE sold 16,5k... I update the market (buying data from the TO EXPORT location written near the commodity), refresh the commodity list, and understand that the IMPERIAL SLAVES are EXPOTED to the system XYZ..... Now, I didn't bought any as I don't trust it anymore, but let's check: I jump to XYZ, in its SYSTEM MAP the only station, claims to IMPORT IMPERIAL SLAVES.... GREAT so far.... once I docked at and checked the commodities: they buy the IMPERIAL SLAVES for 15,5k !!!!! WTH?!

Do I miss something? Is this normal? And IMPERIAL SLAVES is JUST an example... happened also on GOLD, etc..... Buggy??
TIA!!!

It depends on the size of the system selling and buying, a system selling lots of something with huge population will sell cheaper and system buying something with low population will pay less that one with high population

sounds like you are buying from low pop and trying to sell at low population

From my FAQ:
Trading/Navigation
Dealer: I can't find a good trade route! Help me!
The best trade routes require 18 LY or more. If you look at the trade routes on the map, you will see all the routes that NPC traders exhaust for you and drain profits. Use the trade routes to find where goods are NOT delivered. For example, find a large Extraction economy that has no 7k+ medicines or appliances.

A good trade route will net you 2k+ profit per tonne round trip. For even larger profits you may have to jump twice from station to station.

In game market data is a a farce at present, exported goods that cannot be sold at their destinations, losses so large that no trade would exist between those stations and more. Frankly, the in game market tools are counter productive, you are better off doing some ground work and building up a mental picture of the local economy, it is no wonder that traders are resorting to third party tools.

Just yesterday I undertook three trade runs using in game market data and each time no station at the other end would even buy the goods, while I am sure that was rather unlucky and an extreme example, the fact remains using the in game tools it is still a possibility.

I wrote a post on the same subject yesterday, however, sadly unless you are determined to keep hitting F5 and reposting in your own thread for the sake of keeping it on the front page it seems destined to disappear.
