Marshalls

Something to consider for ELITE Combat Pilots in Open Mode.
National (Interstellar Service) to combat Griefers et al.
Pick up a Marshall Service Only Ship - equivalent of a pocket battleship on steroids, new ship class and model similar in size to maybe an Anaconda.

Make this new ship the only one in the entire Game that you would need to gang up on big style to even have a hope of dropping its shields and doing it any damage.
An arsenal thats taking YOUR shields down in about 4 volleys.
Next volley cripples you, next one again and your Life Pod better be in good order.

Gank and Grief all you want, but if a Marshall drops into the system...….run for your life or the rebuy is going to be a !
Perhaps make calling a Marshall by broadcasting an SOS?
All and any Police in the system follow the Marshalls lead, he attacks - they swarm the bad guy/s into the bargain.

Don't spoil it for those who want to be Pirates, or Griefers, thats what makes Open what it is, make them trouser staining nervous instead!
As its only a monster of a battle cruiser you're inventing, and its only available to ELITE Combat Pilots (I'm not a combat Pilot) who sign up for Service, FD can work out rewards etc.

Just a thought.

I disagree with this suggestion. A much better counter to gankers and griefers is other players. The game just needs to implement better systems and motivations for those other players so that there are more of them.

My FdL is named U.S. Marshall

I hang out at CNBs with it and chase wanted pirates and terrorists.

I don't think hunting griefers is worth the trouble.

A. They seek the attention, notoriety
B. They won't play fair once you ever find them.

Don't confuse griefer with ganker. Two similar terms, two different player bases.

I'm famous! =D

In all seriousness, thanks - and for those who don't read it...

The rough synopsis is the need for gameplay mechanics (leaderboards, rewards, and a change or update in loot mechanics) that incents Enforcers - the typical name for anti-pirates and bounty hunters. The issue with griefers and pirates is that they have no counter-balance in commanders, only in systems like C&P (which itself needs work, both for and against piracy). Give the link a read and keep the discussion on that thread rolling!

Bluntly put - there isn't anything wrong with piracy in Elite. There just isn't any system that incents commanders to behave as enforcers.

I think people are going to want to use ships they like. I like the midrange some like Large ships while some crazy folks like it small and movable.

A lot of the people you want the marshal service to fight are already Elite. And good luck persuading them to use their big super battleship for purely innocent reasons.
