Marvellous Viper Mark II

Just a small thread to say that I find Viper Mark II, simply marvellous!

I found it massive, beautiful, powerful, but also somewhere realistic...

What is your opinion?

Yes, and it illustrative of the scale of ship. If you look closely you can see the cockpit. That is a big fighter!

Yeah, love the segmented hull, makes it look a bit like an insect. It looks like it could take a beating and keep on coming, which I suppose is the point.

I suspect the wingy bits (technical term) on top are heat vents. They've given strong hints that things like that animate, so can't wait to see it actually in game.

Also imagine damage model for this ship (awe)

If you have a look at the Space Engineers game on Steam, despite its blocky nature it has a very nice damage model. Anything along those lines would be great.

I actually prefer this shot...

...my favourite ship by far - must have.

Completely agree, beautiful design. It has a menace to it and is top of my list as the ship I want to fit out as my ultimate bounty hunting craft

I love all the ships we've seen so far. FD have done a fantastic job of keeping the essential spirit of the vessels whilst updating the visualization and details (so far!).
ED craft seem to epitomize tough, versatile space ships. I used a Viper in Frontier, starting my military career (missions) in one. I had a big, polluting engine so my range and acceleration was massive and I delivered 'post' for the Federal Military.
It's a mean attack vessel and I'm dreaming that they could be used for scouting/spying as well as fighting.
I wonder how much they cost? :)

There is another pic of the 'heat vents' closed (Atari's posted it).
I think you're spot on, and they are animated heat vents/covers.
