Newcomer / Intro Mass and manoeuverability

I wonder if there is any way to calculate how much mass is ideal? And how that works on thrusters and the surplus of power one has.
I hear things a lot like, try to cut mass, etc.

My Asp is currently at 466 mass, a thrusters have as ideal mass 840t.
Do I have double the maneuverability, does that even apply?

I try to be aware at what point I equip to much mass and thus the effect on my ship.

It's not double, but generally yes, the more the difference between your mass and ideal mass of engines, the better.

No exact numbers, though.

My ASP is currently at 481,3t mass, all A grade load-out.

I have no idea if that is 'light', agile or anything.
I wish there was some kind of idea of known formula to have an awesomeness in what way my ship's mass has an effect on it's flight performance.

Does it really matter?

I must be really old and grumpy today. ... but I don't get why something like this matters...

Blue is good. ... Red is bad. :)

Unfortunately, Frontier is hiding numbers from us.
I just fly by feel. It the ship "feels" comfortable to fly, I'm happy.

With ASP I had kinda mixed combat setup. A6 shields and A grade Power plant and distributor, C5 thrusters and D pretty much everything else.
She was just under 400T when unladen and felt very nice to fly.
