Mass lock factor 23 stronger than Coriolis...and planets!?

When I depart a large space station, mass lock drops out at about 2.5km.
When I depart a surface port the mass lock again drops out at 2.5km.
So why is it that when I'm attacked by a anaconda, which is a big ship but not as big as a station or a planet, mass lock is still holding fast at nearly 4km!?
Anyone?

Disclaimer: I pulled this explanation completely from my backside.

It has to do with the object being (relatively) stationary versus mobile. Think of a large body of water, such as a pond. If you have a large rock, it sits in the water and nothing much moves. But if you have a duck swimming across the pond, something that is much less massive than a rock, it will create ripples and turbulence. If you are a larger object, you can swim through the turbulence, but a smaller object (like a bug) will be tossed around, creating difficulty swimming.

The planet is still (relatively), so it creates no turbulence. You are either attached to it or you are not. The Anaconda is moving, creating turbulence, and so you have to fight to move away from it until you are far enough away that the volatility is weakened and you can "swim" normally.

That's the rough draft, at least. Next draft will include sciency words to make it sound more official or give the impression that I know what I'm talking about.

Ships mass inhibit out to 5k

Whether you like or not, whether it makes sense on a technical level or not, it is important to the gameplay mechanics.

Just an FYI though. Mass inhibition only effects SUPER CRUISE. Not hyperspace. This is a VERY important gameplay mechanic to know

Edit: if you need a pretend technical explination. Astronomical bodies dont posess an FSD. There for, they do not warp space the way a ship does

Yeh makes no sense whatsoever. More bad game mechanics not suprised at all.

Never really thought about it. I'll bet you it has something to do with the technology that lets the last station you docked at know you died violently in space, resurrect you for free, then replace your old ship module for module at an extremely discounted price. I got a feeling once I figure this out, everything else will fall into place.
