Mass Lock?

Just had an encounter w/ a bounty hunter, elite Anaconda, it is down to 7% hull and I'm literally w/ the nose of my Corvette at it's main thrusters, we are touching and I'm blasting away.

It starts its FSD and manages to wake away, zero distance from my Corvette. Is a Corvette unable to mass lock an Anaconda, from zero distance?

Not the first time this has happened.

Would appreciate any insights others may have on this, thanks in advance.

If it high waked, then the mass lock does nothing.
Mass lock only affects the time it takes to low wake.
That said, for low wakes, yes the corvette have a higher mass lock factor, but not much more (23 for conda 24 for corvette).

edit: And if it was an NPC, then it always high wakes. They never low wake away.

WHAT!? WHA..!? HUH!? O MY GOD!! THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH!! I can't believe after 400 hours I didn't know this!!! D': No wonder I can never escape the same way other players seem to, I just need to HIGH wake! Urrrrggghhh the rebuys I could've saved myself... :'(

It was an NPC and it must have hi-waked.

Still, you would think that an object of fairly high mass that was REALLY CLOSE would affect the field the FSD makes to go FTL. Particularly if that object was being pushed around.

OK, thanks everyone.

Also glad someone else got something out of my inquiry!
