Mass relays

now that we can supercharge our FSD, it would make sense if there were made mass relays that artificially supercharges our FSD.

im not talking about 1 jump to colonia or whatever, but it would make sense if the major superpowers build these things to improve the infrastructure of their space.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Some kind of ring / cylindrical structure orbiting close to a star that you can fly through for an FSD boost. You'd have to drop out of SC but that's alright I guess. Make it manned as well so we have to ask ATC for permission to use it.

yeah something like that, and only able to use when you are clean in that juristiction.

This makes sense but I think the vast distances are part of the game. Our jump ranges are increasing and I suspect once thargoid and guardian tech is understood, this may improve again. There's military jump drives which was a thing. The galaxy is getting smaller.

Was there ever an inter-galaxy jump capability in previous versions of Elite?

I'd actually proposed something akin to this, but not for bubble-travel.
Imagine, you pull up to a structure, submit a request, perhaps even pay a fair bit of credits, maneuver your ship into position, wait for the supercharge notification and are able to catapult yourself out some 5k light years or even 10k, in one direction. Why would you want to do this? Because you long to explore more distant parts of the galaxy but you know as well as most, that the region within 5k Ly of the bubble has been rather extensively traveled and you seek not the road less traveled, but where no roads have been made at all.

Of course, to use these, you'd need to secure a long-jump permit from Professor Palin first, which means making that first 5k Ly trip the old fashioned way first.
