Massacre Mission Stacking

If this is supposed to be a "believable" galaxy how does it not make sense to allow mission stacking for massacre missions? For Example: It makes perfect sense that multiple factions in a given system want pirates in their own system and/or neighbouring systems taken care of. It makes no sense to me that I pick up missions from multiple factions to destroy the same group of pirates and have to fulfill each contract separately. This makes no sense AT ALL. If two corporations require the same service and I accept a contract from each of them, separately, they should each pay me for completing the service. Not see that I have a contract with one company for x pirates and then once that's filled start tallying their own contract.... This is contrived and limits immersion in the world as it plays like a developer imposed limitation as opposed to an open world where factions/corporations pursue their own agendas independently of each other - allowing me to perform a common service (a dangerous one at that) and get paid for it.

This seems like a simple fix seeing as this was how the game has been working since the last release and was a pleasant change (which I mistakenly thought was purposeful...). Is it just me that feels this way?

Well, lets play cowboys in the old wild west.

At one time in the sad history, there was payment made for scalps. usually, to get a scalp, you needed to the kill the wearer of said scalp.
Now several places offered contracts to delivering scalps. So you could accept these contracts from every such contract giver, but how would you deliver the same scalp to several contract givers? So you had to choose one and deliver the scalps there.

Now replace scalp with something unique in Elite and you have you answer. You can only deliver the "proof" to one party. And how they compete, by giving you the option to accept their missions.
And how missions works, the fill the quota in the order you picked. So you do not get to collect 100 scalps and then decide to use 40 on this mission, 30 on that mission, 20 on that mission and then you have 10 left since you do not have enough scalps to complete the last mission...

Fair enough - your scalp analogy works. As horrific as its origins are...

I forgot one thing, there still appears to be one part of the stacking that works, take a massacre mission for faction X pirates in system X.

Now pick up a few Assassinate Pirate Lord from Faction X in system X. and these would actually now stack with the massacre mission.

Now for each Mission target Pirate lord you kill, they also count on the Massacre mission!

And those solo assassinate Pirate Lords can be quite fun, as they can now randomly drop into your location so if you are "lucky", you can have 2-3 Pirate Lords Corvettes going after you... Way more fun that those Wing versions of the same missions, with their FDLs and Vultures...
