Massacre missions (lack thereof) Bug? Or...

I'm finishing off my triple Elite at the moment, 44% Deadly, and seeing as the Hehe thing is going down, I thought I'd join in for the Feds, because, I am just a rank away (89% to go) to get a Corvette.

So, hey, fight for the Feds, gain combat rank, do massacre missions and get naval rank too, right?

I have not seen a single massacre mission for the Feds. Not one. Yet, the Hehe Camora (or whatever they are called) are offering them in bucket loads. Useless to me, of course, I don't want the cash, I want ranks. I have plenty of credits.

I've noticed this with every single system I have been to that has a war or civil war - the Fed or Imperial faction never offers massacre missions.

Is this a bug (which I'm happy to report)? Or is it a case of the side that I ahead just doesn't offer them?

Mode switch a few times? I'm not very interesting in steal-cargo rank missions, hatch breaking is too fiddly, and bounties are annoying. So I wander around trying areas and switching until they give missions that suck less.

I spent 20 minutes mode switching. They want me to haul random goods to random systems, or no missions at all.

Do a few sessions in the CZ and cash in the bonds. The missions will eventually start to appear.

I would have thought 9.3m cr in combat bonds would do the trick... Along with being allied. And throw in 20 minutes of mode switching for good measure. Not so...

I suspect that some types of factions are more inclined to want to massacre their opponents. I spent much of last weekend fighting in CZ for one of the very few Federal Anarchy factions, and they were offering some rather nice massacre missions. Look for one of these six in a civil war and support them.

Ive been in the Wu Guinagi / HIP 10716. A,B,A loop for a few days now and it seems like all they ever want me to do is massacre.
I find myself sifting through the 8 deep sacks of massacre, looking for those juicy planetary scans.

OP is specifically talking about the current CG in the Hehe system. The Fed side does not give out massacre missions, but the Anarchy side does.

The cynic in me thinks this is Fdev's attempt at "balance" so more people sign up for the Anarchy side (the Fed side is currently much farther ahead.)

I did see a couple massacre missions there yesterday, but they were very small in payout. I didn't try the outposts.

And when you decide you want some massacre missions, you take a couple and they just disappear, cannot stack them very well. I think they realize they might never see you again :)

In my BGS time I've found this 'bug' to be quite widespread, and quite annoying. Only once have I ever had lots of massacres generated for the correct side. May I ask what factions do you think dish them out? I have my suspicions but it would be interesting to compare notes.

Define "correct side". You'll find there are two of those in each conflict.

But I've only ever seen the missions as a bonus, as they have zero effect on who wins a conflict. And when I get them, I'm usually more interested in the reputation and the lockdown effects than the credits.

My side of course ;)

But when I did lots of BGS manipulation I was finding that flipping 90% of the time did not spawn massacres for my side (normally dictators, but also feudal and co-op occasionally), and yet the opposition (corp and democracy) always had them in a ratio of 4:1. What I would see is my faction at 60% + influence (but no missions offered, even at their own stations), the opposition at 0% in civil unrest and /or lockdown (offering 10 missions +).

Since I wanted people to fight for more bonds for me indirectly, massacres are useful as a sweetener, but I never had them going for my faction while fighting.

The only solid thing that I know from observation is that military types generate more massacre missions, and from gossip / possible observation that factions that own lots of stations may offer more.

There is an indirect effect of such missions attracting mercenaries leading to more bonds cashed. Much less of a problem now that the no of missions you can take have been limited.

This was my thought. Very annoying... I could have been close to qualifying to a Corvette by now... I'm at about 12m cr for the feds. I may start fighting for the camorra at this rate...

Well, yeah, when it's essentially a dice roll, there is every possibility you could never, ever, in a million years, see them.

I took about ten federation massacre missions yesterday though.

Thge Feds are relying on patriotic duty of citizens to sign up and don't need to offer missions, the pirates are offering cash incentives to lure mecanaries into fight against the crushing tyranny of the federation.

mode switch, the boards refresh every 15min I think.Check other stations and mode switch there.Eventually the RNG gods will roll the massacre missions for the desired faction. If it doesnt happen after all this mode switching then its probably manually disabled by fdev in the CG zone. In any case its pure RNG in rolling the missions for chosen faction.

maybe it simply depends on your relation to a faction?

since i went to "friendly" with the anarchy faction at the CG, they hardly offer me any massacre missions at all.
the federation one i can't tell, because i am already allied with the federation, just not that minor faction there.

I was stacking em deep and selling em cheap yesterday in Hehe, made a tasty little bonus on the massacres (I did both sides of the CG but only the non-fed gave me massacres), which came in handy since combat bond payout is so garbage. It never made sense to me, bounty hunting is 500% safer and more profitable, what besides a CG is to inspire me to go there other than an occasional need for variety?

I don't want cash, I want ranks! To this day, I don't understand why fighting for a fed faction in, you know, a war, doesn't gain any rank with the Federal or Imperial superpowers. You're going to war for them, for heavens sake!

I mode switched fr 20 minutes straight 3 or 4 times now. It simply does not want to give me massacre missions. Unlike the Camorra, who seems to be full of massacre (and many other war related) missions. Non of the fed missions for me are war related.

As mentioned before, I'm allied, I've cashed in 12m cr worth of combat bonds, and will likely do 20m-30m cr more by the time it's done. (I *REALLY* want my triple Elite!).
