Massive fps drop in planetary base and POI

I don't know if its specific to VR, but i have major fps drop near planetary base and planetaryy POI, only when i look to them, if the base in behind me no drop.

I got a I7 6700k @4,5ghz and 980 ti strix. Go a smooth 90 fps on almost all the others zone but in that 2 cases it drops to 45 fps. I use ultra with AO off and oculus SDK SS @ 1.2, the ingame SS is 1.0.

I've noticed that in that case of fps drop, my gpu usage drop to 40~50%. Thought that was a cpu bottleneck but my cpu is not fully loaded, same % than in others area.

I tried to lower ingame SS to 0.65 tu see the impact but i have exactly the same fps~45 and my gpu load is just lower.

Anyone have the same issue ? Any fix ?
 
I have a vive, pretty sure when you you can't run a solid 90 fps, reprojection kicks in and drops you to 45, so you may be hitting 60-70s. It should still feel like 90 yah?

Strange.. sounds like your GPU is throttling back for some reason?

You could try my settings and see if that works for you too though. I have a similar rig, 980 ti and 3930K processor clocked at 4.2.
I'm setting everything to High, except ambient occlusion and shadows which are set to medium. Anti-aliasing off.
In-game SS to 0.65 and Oculus DebugTool set to 1.7

This was after a lot of testing with the DebugTool performance window open to keep an eye on my frame rates.
Planetary bases were by far the toughest on my frame rates, and so i tweaked slightly to make sure they stayed high here.
Generally getting 90fps everywhere and on planetary bases i'm getting between 80 and 90fps depending on where i'm looking, but i don't mind this as ATW handles this quite nicely.
 
i've found out that when put FX quality to off i gain 30 fps on planetary base and my gpu usage raise up. This engine is very strange...
 
Sounds like a normal v sync issue when GPU isn't able to keep the set fps. It drops fps down to half and the workload on the gpu is thereby lowered.
